[Bug]? Books with Examine Prompt don't Open

During one of last year's patches (Horns of the Reach or CWC, I can't recall) my Library books 'broke'. I reported it as a bug then and was just visiting my Library again today and the issue is still there.

It seems to be a range issue - books over my character's head have the "Examine" prompt but when the character activates it they walk forward (into a cabinet, bookcase, or the wall) and then nothing happens - the book does not open.

I have every readable book up to the Summer Mayhem Pelinal Series displayed in my Library and about half of them are on wall shelves slightly over character's head, on top of 'filled' bookshelves or on a wall shelf over a short cabinet.

If this is a bug that will be fixed I don't want to rearrange my entire Library! However, if it is not a bug then I will have to redesign...having the prompt and nothing happening feels like a bug though.

@ZOS_GinaBruno Any way to confirm this bug is on a bug list? I know it isn't the highest priority

Just wanting to avoid this myself: am I right that it's a position issue? So not all books will have this problem, just ones placed above head height?

Not all books have this problem. In my Library it seems to be 1. Vertical distance - above my character's head they won't interact properly and 2. Horizontal distance - so even though books may be a bit lower if there is also horizontal distance, such as the depth of the cabinet - makes the higher shelf books have interact issues. I do have a handful of books on shelves over the cabinets that can be properly interacted with by standing beside the cabinet but I also have wall shelves that when I select "Examine" my character just walks into the wall to be "closer" to the book...and it never opens to read.

Hey Mix - I was able to replicate this with all of my characters. Any book placed more than roughly a relative foot above my character's head was unreadable, even though the book had the green glow in the placement interface and had the "Examine" prompt outside of it. There is a hard-coded distance check to allow you to read a book even if the book is placed in a readable way, and gives the prompt.

Also, the same thing happens if you place a book at a low height, but put a barrier between you and the book to prevent the character from moving towards the book to read it. Your character will "move" toward the book, but without being able to get close enough to it because of the barrier, the distance check fails and the book does not open.

So this is basically a "not reachable" issue. If the book is too far above you, you can't get there to read it. The prompt range will be greater, because of the "move to read it" mechanism. Which means it's not a bug, and won't get fixed. I'll just have to be careful about placement.
