Future DLC/Expansion idea/request

Greetings general discussion!

As I could not find the suggestion part of the forum, I decided to try my post here.

I had an idea that could probably be used in a future DLC/Expansion and decided it was too good to not share. As we all know sorcerers are the only class that has a real pet companion, I say this is kind of unfair!

So I figured, why not allow everyone to 'capture' wild animals and domesticate them, and then put them inside a portable magical ball. When they are needed, they could be summoned to fight or heal with the owner!

Now, I thought on how to go about capturing such an animal, it would be boring if you could just throw your magical ball at it and would capture it. So I figured, why not battle it in order to weaken it, so that you can capture it in that state.

Also, considering how powerful most people are, it would be unfair towards the animals if the player had to battle them, so I would suggest a quest line that would give you your very first animal, that you can then use to capture even more!

Anyway, more things could be added to this, like having them carry stuff for you, or ride them as a mount, or even flight!

Yae or nay, or any additions or arguments against it, discuss!

I'm absolutely sure I've heard of this game before...

on a different note - I dunno how I feel about this. While I did enjoy the hunter/taming mechanic of WOW to a certain extent, and obviously there's the appeal of Pokemon and Monster Hunter and whatever other games use this mechanic...

I don't see it fitting all that well into ESO in general, and if it did, I don't see it fitting in all that well with ALL character classes - and yet, at the same time, giving it ONLY to one class would seem...unnecessarily prejudicial

now, I *can* see a similar setup that would be a little less...distracting...for me, at least - build an arena, where trained monsters can fight. Have some kind of achievement mechanic for chasing down monsters and having to fight them, learn about them, study them, "grow" them - once you've completed all the achievements for an animal (or possibly a class of animals, like insects vs deadric beasts vs magical constructs and so on - kinda like the slayer achievements) you unlock a new class of collectible

when you visit the arena, you can set any animal you have a collectible for to battle some other npc animal (or possibly player animal - this is where the coding might get overly complicated I imagine)

if the code was really robust, each animal could have a set skill bar (kinda like werewolf mode), and the player could trigger skills on a cooldown as part of the fight

maybe even include secondary achievements that would unlock *upgrades* to beasts, like armor, or different skills, or swarms, or whatever

yah, actually - I'm kinda liking MY idea now (no offense, it's just that MY idea appeals more to ME than yours did) - but thanks for asking, and for spawning the conversation

but to my first point - yah, if you're looking for an actual GAME built around the mechanic above, I'm pretty sure they already exist - several times over

unless you were trying to be funny, in which case, I missed it

With strength and intelligence comes hard work.

Which is why not a lot of people are strong nor intelligent.
