The "allow out-of-date add-ons" option doesn't work

Hey all. I haven't played the game in about 2 months so I had to update before playing. My out-of-date addons don't load anymore because the option to load them won't stay ticked. I go into Add-Ons, tick the "allow out-of-date add-ons" option, and then hit E to reloadui. Goes back to load screen then comes back up but nothing changed and when I open the Add-ons menu option again, it's not ticked anymore.

The add-ons still work from what I hear even though they're out of date, so why won't this thing stay ticked?! Anyone know?

I have never seen this issue but as the tick box is part of the game code maybe you should close the game run the Repair from the launcher.

This normally only happens if your files within the ESO folder (where the addons are stored and 1 level above like c:\users\your windows user\documents\Elder Scrolls Online) are write protected somehow.

Did you open the file UserSettings.txt oder AddonSettings.txt with any editor and have it opened as you tried to tick the checkbox?

Most of them are probably updated already. Just install Minion and it will make updating them pretty easy. I also don't recommend very outdated addons since they do tend to give plenty of errors and make some parts of the UI unusable. For example after the update I wasn't able to sell to NPCs because the buttons from that part of the UI interface were absent and the items weren't clickable. I investigated that problem and was caused by one of my addons, ESO Master Recipe List, which I deleted and didn't have that problem anymore. I'll wait till they get an up to date version uploaded onto esoui site and download then, since the current version is still the old one, dated December 2017.
