[Idea, Discussion] Extended Cooperative Adventuring

So, Fellowship of the Ring released on Netflix a few days ago, and the Mines of Moria reminded me of one of my favorite experiences in this game: the first hour or so exploring the Imperial City Sewers. I have a taste for rogue-like games-- go as far as possible, survive as long as possible. That first ever experience of not knowing what's around the corner, discoveries to find, monsters to vanquish, enemy players to avoid, kill, or even join... It was pretty great.

Since then, the novelty has worn off. A runner rarely encounters enemy players down there any more, and IC Sewers is missing one element that defines a rogue-like, and that's procedural / random dungeon layout and enemy placement. That's an itch that just can't be scratched by other group content-- trials and dungeons. While the fighting might be challenging, the content and objectives are so linear that there's no sense of exploration or discovery at all (at least in pub groups. I'm sure a good RP group takes their time and enjoys the journey).

I'm not sure how procedural generation would work with instanced groups, but I feel like it's an avenue of gameplay with so much potential, and I can think of three settings perfect for extended group rogue-like adventures.
  1. Blackreach
    • The sprawling area introduced in Skyrim is, in my opinion, the perfect setting for exploration. Randomly interconnected Dwarven corridors, dotted with cavernous sections of Falmer-infested subterranean gloom just feels ideal.
  2. Red Mountain.
    • Climbing to the top of Red Mountain and fighting a Balrog or something would be pretty cool. Lava flowing and cooling, changing the terrain every expedition. It'd also fill up a lot of space players felt were missing like a puzzle piece.
  3. The Central Reach
    • Not the hold in Skyrim. The mountainous area between Skyrim and High Rock, North of Craglorn. As I understand it, this area is so treacherous that its only inhabitants are mad Reachmen and xenophobic Orcs. Mountains crashing into each other, earthquakes opening up new fissures and ravines every day, constant warfare between Bretons and Orcs, trolls, ogres, goblins, bears, and who knows what else?

In a nutshell, I just want more of the unknown. Put some rogue-like into my Elder Scrolls. Like chocolate and peanut-butter. Or something. Thoughts?

    Not of interest.
Honestly they just need to change solo only to co-op and scale or whatever. Allow to be repeatable with a daily reward

No, not Craglorn. This is about areas that aren't the same twice in a row. Also not PvP. I was saying that IC gameplay introduced elements of random since you can't predict enemy player movement, which made exploration more exciting and dangerous.
