Because its a game nearly anything can happen, especially things that contradict or even step on the story and Lore in-game. So share below your notable moments where either the game itself broke immersion, or you did somehow.

I'll begin,

Just now I'm on Khenarthi Island with my Khajiit DK, and I ride up to one of the Thalmor recruiters boasting of the Eagle Banner's good graces. My Khajiit is listening intently...while saddled upon an Ebonheart Pact War Horse.

After completing the Alik'r storyline, while reforging the Ansei Wards, Fahara'jad's going on about how this outsider did so much for this land despite being from far away.

Meanwhile, my super traditional Redguard stamplar in full heavy Ra Gada gear, wings and all, is just standing there looking at him.

Not murder-knifing the Covenant leaders after going through Bleakrock and Bal Foyen.
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

When running through Wrothgar seeing a guy sitting on the floor having 'Mercenary' written on his forehead and shouting 'Help! I need help! Somebody help me!' every second non-stop. I think after the initial WTF moment I laughed really hard for at least a minute. Kudos to whoever designed this encounter. Pure comedy gold.

I had the opposite - khajiit in a mix of khajiiti and altmeri armour roaming around Cyrodiil and somehow all the NPCs instantly recognised me as a Covenant soldier. One redguard even said it was nice to see "a face from home" as well as the local castle back in Covenant hands.

Sure she wants to fight for the Covenant, she went all the way across Tamriel to do just that, but it would be nice to be able to do some espionage too.

First Person camera not really working for the majority of the game. If you want to do your part and survive you have to play in third person.
First Person is not viable unless you are doing small time content and just wandering around.

In the middle of the Wrothgar questline, when Forge Mother Alga
kills the Vestige and I wake up having been "saved" by one of the King's Shieldwives. Like, no, I'm sorry, I'm the Vestige. You kill me, I do this little resurrection trick with a soul gem. Oh, and I'm pretty much an incredibly famous hero across Tamriel at this point so how exactly has Forge Mother Alga NOT heard about the fact that I apparently can't be killed?

In general, the sheer lack of understanding that led Alga and King Kurog to think they could treat the Vestige (slayer of Molag Bal, defeater of the Worm Cult, Meridia's Champion, yada, yada, yada) as a mere pawn was hilarious, insulting, and just plain genre-blind on their parts.

Not me directly, but i got shot down by someone in Vivec City not long ago for breaking their immersion and ruining what was otherwise a good game. I was killing npcs whilst farming for motifs. Not my fault the current game design requires you to kill npcs as to maintain a constant source of farming. The guy should be playing Skyrim if he wants to create and maintain certain parameters within an RPG.

The absence of Race-specific dialogue, like argonians telling me I wouldn't understand something when i'm an argonian. Or dunmer not recognizing i'm an argonian and talking *** about argonians. At least this is somewhat happening less in Vvardenfell.

You know what's super immersion breaking for me? Players with absurd names. At first I played with the option on consoles to see account names and after some time I was like: no. Then I changed it to see character names and now I am like: NO.

Be a resurrectable Vestige before sacrificed to Molag Bal and finishing Wailing Prison in Morrrowind chapter.
Why developers do this? Why not start in Coldharbour as usual and when escape Wailing Prison fall in waters close to Vvardenfell and then be taken on board of ship what was attacked by slavers from Morrowind beginning?
It will be the same as we start in other alliances before as we fall in water close to Khenarthi's Roost, Stros M'Kai or Bleakrock Isle.

That bothers me too. I really enjoy it in other games when you get different dialogue options or different reactions depending on your race (or class, or whatever) and it just doesn't seem to happen in this game. Occasionally your choices in previous quests will have an impact, but that seems to be it.

Even when it's playing a Khajiit (or any race other than nord) in Skyrim or an elf in Dragon Age and the race specific dialogue seems to be 'everyone hates you' it's preferable to everyone acting like they can't actually tell what race you are. It makes multiple play-throughs more interesting.

(If anyone's wondering I didn't mention Morrowind because everyone hates you in that game no matter what you do. You could be a dunmer, a devout Tribunal follower, Vivec's best friend and a perfectly exact replica of Lord Indoril Nerevar and the saviour of the entire land and they may grudgingly concede that, under certain circumstances, you are not as bad as other outlanders.)

Recently a Crown Store item did it for me, I'm not the "immersion" type of player but there was one hat that was for sale that resulted in line dancer/cowgirls almost everywhere i went.. I just thought it was trashy actually and spoiled the theme of the game a little more than my immersion.
