I just had a brilliant idea

Would it be possible to add a feature in Cyrodiil where when you go to attack a player, you get a prompt such as: "that player is currently under attack." However, the only way that prompt will activate is if up to two players are engaged in combat against one player. I think this feature would significantly mitigate getting steamrolled by zergs.

The prompt would be similar to other existing prompts; such as, "someone is already using that," when going to open a chest.

So, in conclusion: no more than two players may be engaged in combat against one player at any time while in Cyrodiil. What does everybody think?

    You'd spend more time searching for a target and *** would get annoying fast

    It just wouldn't work for so many reasons.

    Super hard to kill tanky builds would just become even harder to kill.

    I also don't see how it would establish who you're in combat with unless there was some strange cooldown system like, if you attack someone, no other team-mate can for ... seconds. Which would just make combat so much less fluid and as stated above you'd spend half your time looking for a viable target.

    Also, say i'm being attacked by 2 players, and I see an easy kill just a short distance away, could I ignore the attackers, gap close and attack my desired target or would I have to fend of the 2 attackers first cause i'm at the combat cap?

    Would AoE's or pre-applied dots still do damage, or be cancelled if the target gets attacked by too many players?

    Might seem like a good anti-zerg idea but would absolutely not work in practice.

    This is a horrible idea. Lower skill level players can currently equalize the odds by outnumbering stronger opponents. If you want Cyrodiil to be filled with elite players and tanks specifically built to survive attacks by up to two players then go ahead. If you want a small scale fight, this suggestion might be better suited to a battleground mode than an AvAvA area.

    Non sense!

    You are looking at it wrongly.
    Here is some foot for thoughts:
    1. There are always weak players - their only chance to pvp is zerging-up
    2. You die in pvp being it 1v1 fight or 1vX fight - and it sucks if you die in both scenarios. One time you blame zerg group another time you blame balance.
    3. When you manage to kill a group of players by yourself it is a wonderful feeling - do you want it out of the game?

    Your suggestion is nicely torpedoed by the most recent change to Cyrodiil combat: removal of the AOE caps. So I can damage everyone inside my AOEs and so can the guy next to me and the guy next to him.

    (Also, standing in oils and other siege)

    Sorry, OP, even the devs disagree.

    sorry, i gotta call this idea what it is - stupid. its a pvp area and you want players to not be able to attack other players.

    This just wouldn't work at all for a wide multitude of reasons, as someone else here said. Talk about some clunky combat.

    I would ask you: What is the problem you are trying to solve with this change?

    Essentially, this idea would transform Cyrodiil combat into no more than a 1v2/2v1/2v2 (as I've said, only a maximum of 2 players can simultaneously attack 1 player or 1 player can simultaneously attack 2 players) zone. I can just imagine a battlefield packed with skirmishes of players fighting literally back-to-back.

    The basic structure of this idea is as follows (using Even and Odd numbers to differentiate alliances):

    Player 2 happens upon two players in Cyrodiil (Player 1 and Player 3)

    Player 1 ENGAGES Player 2
    Player 2 becomes ENGAGED with Player 1
    Player 3 then ENGAGES Player 2
    Now, Player 2 is ENGAGED by both Player 1 and Player 3
    Player 2 cannot be ENGAGED by any additional Players
    Unless either Player 1 or Player 3 die
    And, both Player 1 and Player 3 are still able to be ENGAGED by one more player, each

    Say, while Player 2 is ENGAGED with Player 1 and Player 3
    Player 5 arrives and cannot yet ENGAGE Player 2
    Then, Player 1 dies, leaving only Player 2 and Player 3 ENGAGED
    Player 5 is now able to ENGAGE Player 2

    While Player 2 is ENGAGED with Player 3 and Player 5
    Player 4 arrives, and is able to ENGAGE both Player 3 and Player 5
    Player 4 jumps in to help Player 2 by ENGAGING both Player 3 and Player 5

    Player 1, returning from respawn, arrives and cannot ENGAGE any player yet
    Because Player 2 and Player 4 are both ENGAGED with Player 3 and Player 5

    Even after the explanation, still a bad idea. I get what you're trying to do, but this just won't be the solution you're looking for. Too many ways to game the system.

    I have a better idea. Let's transform cyrodiil into a huge open world housing space and open pvp across Nirn. Pvp... Everywhere!

    A lot of time and effort put into a thought about how not to get ganked while solo. If you want even fights while playing solo in an open world PvP arena you should stop right there, think about what you just said, delete your account, and start playing mortal combat for guaranteed 1v1 fights.

    I would not like to see the implemented in cyridil but maybe into the dueling aspect of the game. Allow to duel more than one player.
    In an alliance war I don’t want to show up to a fight and have to wait in line to engage.
