Erm. No, pretty sure the community is going to reject that - P2Wness will be screamed.

I for one would 100% not want that going on personally.

No, this is against TOS for a very good reason. We'd drown in the sea of bots that would shortly follow this change.

They would need to amend the TOS to let that happen and I don't see ZOS doing that.

Just saw a threath closed because the dude where talking about bitcoin, but it got me wondering if it would be a good change for eso or not if you where able to like sell stuff on ebay or something, if done corretly ofc, maybe like you can only sell yellow stuff or something like that, never played it but i think EVE does this, you can sell ships or something, and CSGO does this with skins, that way hardcores fan would be able to earn some cash for something they love doing, playing ESO

I mean its not fair that only streamers are able to make a living by playing games right ? xD
EVE Online doesn't do this, it's actually a bannable offence to sell any game assets for real life money.

EVE Online has a very specific system where players can buy game time cards known as PLEX and sell the PLEX item within the game for ISK (game currency) this creates a legal means in which players can buy in game money (then assets) from other players whilst all real money goes towards the company.

As for ESO doing this then no. It would be in its essence the same P2W as if ZOS offered gold items etc within the Crown Store but all profits would be going to players instead. This also opens up a whole new can of worms of how things are treated within the game as they now have real world values.

Do people not remember Diablo 2?

[Of course not. People collectively have the institutional memory of a gnat...with a head injury...]

That's when you could, and did, buy endgame gear or in-game trading currency (SoJ unique rings) on Ebay. In droves and on the cheap. Which pretty much blew apart the whole concept of endgame progression because if you had the extra $20-$30 to spare you could get a full complement of BiS endgame uniques in literally one minute once you and the seller fixed a rendezvous in-game (in a password-locked session, of course). Not to mention the in-game player economy since anyone with that same $20-$30 could stock up on megatons of de-facto currency (hello, inflation...).

No, you know what, yes, let's allow people to put full Spriggan gold jewelry sets on Ebay, just 'cause. In fact, just typing "Elder Scrolls Online" into the Ebay search window already produces a page where the second result from the top is entitled: "PS4 NA - 500K ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE ESO GOLD (CHEAPEST + FAST DELIVERY)". [Apparently 100k gold goes for $7-$9 and a crafted blue/purple 5 piece set for ~$20. Which must be quite the racket...] No, it's nowhere near as bad as I remember from the D2 days when a similar search string would give you twenty pages of offers of SoJs and uniques...but still.

EVE, incidentally, does something rather different. Specifically, EVE decided to turn monthly subscription "tokens" (called Plex) into in-game items - so you can buy Plex IRL for money and sell them in-game for ISK (in-game currency), or, conversely, farm ISK and buy Plex in-game and then sell them on Ebay. And EVE is fine with this (or used to be), because they get the money from the initial sale and the players get something extra to do (e.g. "play for free" if you farm enough ISK per month to buy a Plex, which wasn't very easy last time I played that game).

That is, however you feel about it, very, very different from buying Spriggan gold rings on Ebay. Miles apart, in fact.

So what you're saying is that you expect ZoS to send out a 1099-MISC tax form to anyone who made over $600/year... Because you know, in the real world there is this thing called taxable income and uncle Sam here in the states.

There are some differences there. People watch the videos, hopefully, because the player is good or brings something to the experience (wit, insight, tips, strategy hints, tactics etc). It is also in essence free advertising for the game, as people see the game being played well, and think, this could be fun.

More and more game companies are going to tap into this directly, as it is already a Billion Dollar Business. There are plans for it to be live and in an arena or stadium format. As much as I enjoy gaming, not sure I want to watch others play the game, other than getting a hint on a dungeon or a quest or something.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

This man has never owned a car before. Hell I'll do a brake job for the right price.

As for IRL money making off games... Have u ever seen bots in game or the lists of web sites that buy and sell accounts and in game stuffs?
Just because someone says u can't do it doesn't mean it's not done.

He didn't say nobody can. He said nobody has the right to.

Some people do things that are clearly illegal (selling gold, selling already levelled accounts, etc... )

Some things are in a grey area, but seem to be widely tolerated : twitch and youtube streamers, people openly selling (expensive !) "lessons" ingame...

Some things are in a grey area but do not seem to be tolerated : carrying people in raids for real cash...

Hard to draw the line here.
