ZOS Limits the Amount of Storage Chests You Can Place In Your Home To Six

Real smart ZOS. Players can purchase a total of seven Home Storage Chests via the crown store and can get a storage chest via the leveling system but you limit the total amount that can be placed in a players home to six. Therefore if a player wants to utilize all the storage chests available he or she has to spread them out among two dwellings. That is totally wrong.

That is totally wrong and a rotten exploit on your part to get more money from player housing if players do not have the gold to purchase the additional home and have to use crowns.

room in an inn costs virtually nothing....

I have all 8 in my home. Maybe the house you’re using has too little slots for collectibles? They take the same slots as trophies and busts.

My point is slick why should I have to spread them out between dwellings. All of them should be able to be placed in one home.

This is not quite true, first I thought there were seven total that can be purchased (4 big and 3 small), but I might be missing one. I am able to put all 7 in my home, but I have a manor with ESO+. The capacity is based on the number of collectibles you house holds, which as far as I can tell, are mostly things like undaunted busts.

I do agree that the collectible limit needs looked at. I use my house as essentially an achievement display, and for functional things like target dummies, mundus stones, crafting and storage. I am not able to display all the undaunted busts AND all the storage chests at the same time, which I think is an unfortunate oversight, especially if you have ESO+ and a manor.

I understand the chests in particular have additional function, so there might be issues with too many in a single instant, but I dont see how the same can be said for undaunted busts. They just sit there looking pretty. Seems silly to tie them together.

In my house (Earthtear Cavern), undaunted busts are under 'collectibles' and my storage containers are under 'special collectibles'. I have all 8 storage containers and 'special collectibles' says 8/10. I don't know what else would be considered 'special collectibles' but I can have two more of whatever.

As others have pointed out - you can utilize all the storage chests in a single dwelling. You just need a bigger house.

Yeah I don't like that they limit collectibles. I'd love to be able to just throw 8 chests in my crappy Mournhold inn room for quick access.

the other point you seem to be missing is that the chests are collectables so you can put the same item in as many houses as you own. and they are linked... pretty cool.

There are 8? Four with 30 and Four with 60? I think i must be missing a small one. I had to take down a handful of busts to get the 7 I have to fit.

The 8th chest is given as a reward for reaching level 18 with a new character. It is a unique reward, by that I mean you can only earn it once per account not on multiple characters ☺

As others have said, you need a home that allows at least 8 collectible furnishings. But you can utilize them all in an inn room. Just put one out, fill it up, label it, and put it away. Rinse and repeat. Sure, they're not all out on display, but all of your items are stored away. Just put out the chest you need access to.

Storage chests are "collectible furnishings" I can get 20 of them in a medium home with eso+. So without ESO+ you would likely need a medium home to get all 8. i think small homes allow 6 base.

Everybody says that you can buy 7 chests and get one (small) at lvl 18.
Well, the shop displays only 7 chests, that is right.
BUT the description of the 4th bigger chests reads (in german) that you can get it also as level up reward.

    Maybe its the german translation.

I just tried to place a second chest in my room but it would not let me even thought I had more space in there. It said I have not room. I was able to place another object but not a chest.

    Is the right?

One of the problems I have with collectibles is checking which item is collectible or special collectible.

There are times when I am out of "special collectible" slots, I need to remove one to place the new "special" collectible, but have no means to filter the placed items by this criterion.

This has been brought up many times, and it shows how the devs have better things to do than making some simple QoL improvements.

I don't understand why collectibles are treated differently than "traditional" furnishings. Players should chose what they like to place in their homes. There are many players who want to create museums or achievement galleries, but because of the limit on "special" collectibles, they can't place all the items they want. Why do some pets are listed as special and others are just collectible? How is the voriplasm pet different than a crown store cat in terms of furnishings? These are just artificial limitations which serve no real purpose, especially since ZOS started giving away 700 slot houses for people buying chapters.

Regarding boxes, I guess you need a larger house AND hoard less stuff  Don't worry, I also tend to hoard crap sets which might never get buffed, or sets which have something unique, such as the glowing orbs set or the Parabellum bubble. I always plan to clean up, but end up buying more boxes or slots (I don't have all yet).

Yes, because there are different slot limits, on various different types of furnishings, in different size homes.

Storage chests are classed as Collectible Furnishings.

Inn rooms hold very little, including very few collectible furnishings - only 1, without ESO+.

You can have some Traditional Furnishing slots left, but no Collectible Furnishing slots left.

Hence why you couldn't place a second chest, but could still place other items.

To place 2 storage chests, without ESO+, you need at least a Small home (which hold up to 5 Collectible Furnishings).

To place all 8 storage boxes, without ESO+, you need at least a Medium home (which hold up to 10 Collectible Furnishings).

    Having ESO+ doubles these amounts.

As you can tell from the other answers from 2018, chests are in the same category as collectibles, which is limited compared to the amount of regular non-collectible items your house can hold. You should be able to see how many collectible slots your house has in the housing editor.

So double check your available collectible slots. If you want to place all 8 chests, you need a house with at least 8 collectible slots.
