Suggestions for changes to treasure maps

Treasure maps are worthless. There I said it.

I suggest the dev team make leveled maps (white through gold) and give items based on that quality rating. Gold jewelry for the regions could drop, or unique items for housing. Realistically they need to be incentivised the way Imperial City just was with chest purchases for tel var in Dragon Bones.

Funnily enough, I still have a couple of the treasure maps from Morrowind: Collector's Edition that I haven't used because I know I won't find anything good in them.

Worthless? I don't know about that. I've managed to parlay them into about 300k this week (well, past week now I guess). Just picking the treasures as I go about my business.

CEs are the lowest quality ones. They purposely don't contain any set items so as to avoid Pay To Win.

I wish the maps had a chance for motifs.

i'm hoping and praying they'll stack inside the new containers - i'm pretty sure they won't (or don't)...

I don't feel like going to all the locations, but, i don't feel like selling or destroying them either...

If you got the (original) ESO Collector's Edition to begin with, each of the zone "CE" maps contained within didn't contain ANY set items. I know, because I have most of them left on NA. And they're just like the Morrowind ones - nothing good.
I remember when Morrowind came out people were calling BS on it.

not stacking treasure maps is really a sin, although the last time they mattered much to me was when 1t dropped. Seeing the new zone scaling loot coming i stored up and even bought tons of zone maps. harvested i think literally triple digits worth or maps that first week loading up on new cp 160 scale zone equipment drops.

After that its be hoh hum.

If treasure maps provided raw materials including say furnihsing mats or even transmute crystals, that would be one thing that could keep them living.

But please let them start stacking sometime.

Yeap that would be interesting. The common treasure maps will be downgraded to green and blue, purple and gold with leveled loot and rare furnishings, blueprints or laundered pricy items worth 1500 to 10k gold.

    Treasure maps are worthless

They are not actually they have their purpose. At low levels they are an absolutely great way of making money. At 160cp, I spend about 15k on eastmarch maps, I would spend no more than 200g for a map, would stack a buttload in my mail, go to the location with a map, use it, then have another map for that location in my mail, open it, rinse and repeat. The gold from the chest nearly pays for itself, I get runes, which helped me on my way to become master enchanter and to stack runes for further use.
With the treasure hunter perk, I got all of what I was looking for, full set of akaviri dragon, minus a ring iirc, crap loads of fjords stuff, which I traded and sold in zone chat. I made more than my investment and raked in a lot of cash.
Then, when I had made some money, I did the exact same thing with the cyrodiil maps, had my main, then 2 alts run around cyrodiil (late at night when nearly no one was on) and collected the maps, sold all of the gear, but my real intention was to grab all of the alliance motifs, which I did, then made a vast amount of cash selling the duplicate motifs.
I didn't even carry on doing it after I had learnt all the motifs, but at the time, motifs were selling for 20k+ I could have made a killing. I made all my money back and then some.

In short, maps are a great way to make money at low levels. And now I guess, with the transmute system, they are a way to save some cash on really expensive gear.

I deconstruct all my maps now, no point of putting then in store as they just take up a store space for 500g or less, and take forever to sell. the only ones I use are the vvardenfell ones with a hope of getting a buoyant motif that I could sell.

Funnily enough, I still have a couple of the treasure maps from Morrowind: Collector's Edition that I haven't used because I know I won't find anything good in them.
Use them, but I tell you, they aren't even regular treasure maps, they give you trash like a blue, non set, ruby ash shield. Not even zone set pieces like a normal map, you would expect it to give you better stuff than a random vvardenfell map, it was a massive insult!

I agree. There are a few things like this in-game that haven’t been updated and now seem fairly worthless. Certain skills fall into the same category and deserve a bit of an overhaul.

Levelled treasure maps seems like a great idea and a good way to potentially get gold jewellery items.
