Most likely they still assume if these items were available for direct purchase they'd be sold for peanuts, as in 2000 crowns or less. Wishful thinking at best. Most items would more than likely be twice that, just look at current pricing like 5000 crowns for research scrolls.
Truth is it really doesn't matter what Zos does, there would still be a disgruntled segment of the playerbase.
I don't think most of us crown crates haters would expect them to be sold for "peanuts", rather I think most of us believe they would indeed be sold for a premium. The whole Idea of crown crates us disgusting because for people with limited money you have to gamble for what you want. If I want something I would rather be able to buy it for $500 then have to buy a box for $2 that has a .2 % chance of having what I want. I prefer a direct purchase, sure you may get the item in your first $2 box, but it's not guaranteed, and as a poor college student I don't want to take the riskOne year later, and people still hating on those boxes?
