Access Imperial City

@ZOS could you please make it possible to access IC while cyrodiil is full? I am always stuck in queue waiting for a long time to get a teleport to cyrodiil just for coming over it to IC. Thats not acceptable.

If only walking out the front door of WGT put you at the entrance to it (which is just outside your base in the sewers, if I'm not mistaken).

If only using the door into WGT from IC wasn't a one way trip out of Cyrodill.

If I could insert my idea from a while back that Cyrodil should have a PvE and PvP version

Ya know like a PvE version that allows the OP to visit a PvE version of IC

Yes changes would apply but unless it’s a PvP desire, it would seem logical to offer two play styles in these areas

I actually would like the option to tool around in all of Cyrodiil (including the City) without the constant threat of being stomped by players. Probably being way too optimistic to hope for such a thing, though...

Cyrodil is designed to be Always on PvP. You have the choice to remain outside of Cyrodil or deal with the settings. Im not a PvPer. Too old and slow. But I still venture into Cyr. I farm the skyshards, a few quests and fishing. And for the most part, I have been relatively left alone. There is the over zealous 2 or 3 that must kill every enemy, but generally, if I stay out of the fray, I'm left unaccosted. PvPers arent the blood mad whack-a-doodles that they've been made out to be. They are people who are tired of being smarter than the computer generated monsters who you can always figure out and when that challenge is over, it's boring. They want the challenge of the unexpected... a real human mind. And if you're not going to engage them, there's no challenge there. As a courtesy to PvPers being courteous to farmers of xp, shards and fish, I'll join in occasionally and play the role of canon fodder.

MOST PvPers aren't but an unfortunate too many are. Either that or really, reallllly, realllllllly nervous about a lone fisherperson. :)

I stopped counting at 25 the other day when I was trying to get those last fish how many times I got ganked.

I will never understand why Zmax decided to force Cyrodiil on those who just want to get MA.

Because you have to earn Master Angler!

And its a bit of a thrill, knowing that you are a lamb to the slaughter while you fish... adds a bit of tension :)

Last time I was ganked fishing in IC I had been there to fulfil a Master Writ, and saw a beckoning puddle that I couldn't resist even though it meant I had to have my back to any passers-by. I'd taken about 15 fish and I was starting to hope it would run out before I got ganked when I died. The recap showed I was hit by well-timed ultimates from two gankers.

It shows something about the mentality of some people - attacking a defenceless fisherman from behind, and not even being man enough to go one on one... probably worried I'd spank them with my rod ;)

I have been earning it, throughout all the other zones. I don't need "tension". In fact I play games to try to escape tension.

I get that it's a PvP area and one needs to "expect" PvP so I'm not all that put out by the brave groups of 4 or 5 that flatten me. What I find annoying is ZMax thinking it's a great idea to force the issue.

I'll get there eventually but all this is achieving is me wanting even less to do with Cyrodiil than before. Prob'ly not their intent. ;)

You can do like i did a create an alt that's no different than a walking rock. I put everything into health, block reduction, heavy armor, and defensive skills. I use it just for questing and achievements in Cyrodiil.

Good part is most PvPer's will get frustrated and bored after a while than leave you alone. The hate whispers can be pretty funny too.

Bad part is my DPS is around 2 so I do more damage if I fall on you.

With so many alt slots you can create a specific toon for just about any situation which is a lot cheaper than respecing every time you want to do something different. If i choose the no cp campaign i can nearly wade through a zerg like im taking a Sunday stroll.

This is a good idea but faaaaar too late for my MA candidate. There are other achievements though and I will give this a go. Thank you!

I think a good compromise would be something like "Truce Weekends" or the like.

Just make all of Cyrodiil and the Imperial City a PvE zone, and let us ALL stomp the forces of evil together for a bit. Kind of like how soldiers at war will have temporary cease-fires during holidays sometimes; get together, have some drinks, tell some stories and jokes, get to bond with your fellow man and mer. Then, the day after, go back to brutally and mercilessly turning your foes into puddles of viscera and laughing at their failure to defend themselves. Everyone wins!

The question then becomes, which holiday do we pick?!

    @GreenHere

Or just offer it as a campaign always. See I think people who want to PvP should be able to PvP but mixing those who don’t like me who are there for other stuff just fills the slots and prevents actual PvPers from getting in.

Shrug, just seems to obvious especially considering all the weird things they try to alleviate performance in Cyrodil.

This way only PvP relevant stuff exists in some compaigns, PvE in others and you’d still keep the mix of both in a third type.

    Just suggesting logical varieties.

    I like the way you're thinking, @NewBlacksmurf

I'm sure it's also a question of resources. Costs money to have more servers running, I assume; virtual or not. Or at least costs money to pay somebody to program it to work that (or any) way. I feel like getting a temporary PvE-ification of Cyrodiil would be less of a "cost" and more of an "enticement/event" kind of thing, and that might just be more likely for ZOS decision makers to go for it.

Also, I understand the PvP crowd wanting fodder coming into their turf so they have something to do. I'm not super thrilled that I am usually on the fodder side of the fence, but no one want's to be the only person in a PvP zone. Sad, lonely, and shouting, "Hello?! HELLOOO?! Anyone? Fight me! :( " Wouldn't be much fun for anyone, then.

That said, I'd love a full-time PvE Cyrodiil and IC server. Especially if it would allow the devs to reinvigorate the zone with more quests, npc/animals, etc. Kind of like the Morrowind (the Chapter and the game) treatment, but for Oblivion (the game).

P.S. - Sorry for derailing your thread, OP ;P

theres stacks of these threads whining about how everyone wants to experience cyrodiil without experiencing cyrodiil.
if you cant handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen.
you want the achievements? deal with the requirements
ZOS should make ZERO compromise for cyrodiil when it comes to people whining about this.

Regarding IC and the Q - join a dif campaign. you have 2 choices - home and guest.

I was just today thinking about this. And yes, they should definitely separate pop caps for Cyro and IC. Actually, I think it would be cool if we could log out in the sewers, make the pop cap apply only once ppl want to leave the faction base.

I am but I have to be in the right mood to want to be fodder. I find that every few days I can tolerate it for awhile. I just wish that some of these folks didn't feel the need to act all "über" because they managed to kill a lone fisherwoman. Guess they can't help themselves. ;)

Agree, sorry again for participating in the derail. It doesn't make much sense that just because Zergs are filling up Cyrodiil that we can't get to be one of the 19 people in IC. The City is often comparatively empty even at times when the campaign as a whole is full.

Thinking just like a separate queue in the Activity Finder, similar to BGs?

I like the idea behind that reaching Imperial City has to travel cross Cyrodiil, if it wasn't behind the max-people-filter. I could suggest a teleport like any other dungeon has, but you will not teleport to your fraction but to the middle of sewers at Molag Bal and you have to make your way through sewers to reach your fraction.

IC needs to just be its own thing so that people can queue up directly into it without the hassle of getting to it via Cyrodiil.

There are so many negatives to IC that it's ridiculous and while I can understand that IC is in Cyrodiil, the 2 are already VERY diconnected from each other, with only the PvP buffs rolling over into IC and nothing else. Nothing done in IC benefits your alliance at all as all you're getting is Tel Var stones for yourself. You're actually hurting your alliance by being down there instead of topside since every player in IC is directly reducing the number of players in Cyrodiil. It's just stupid the way it's set up.
