And I’m traumatised! Oh my god I’m never doing vet trials again what a horrible experience. Joined as twelfth out of 12 with full disclosure of not having any vet experience and not being confident in the amount of dps for the situation but that was fine but then the chat! I mean I totally understand that the group would be better if it was your bunch of mates you run with all the time but when they don’t get back to you and you are looking for anyone to make up the numbers don’t be a ***. Traumatised.

Was there voice chat? No reason to ever do a Vet Trial without voice chat. Means the level of noobishness was too high to have a successful group.

Also, unless you are doing something like VMOF of VHOF, having 1 player slightly subpar will not break a group. The mechanics on the Craglorn trials are set up so that if one person dies, you don't take the group down with you. Also, if you are the low person out and the group is still not able to do the content, it's not your fault. It's just too weak of a group overall.

I wouldn't judge a vet trial experience from a PUG group (I assume this was a PUG?)

Vet trials should absolutely include voice comms, even for the easiest one (AA)

vAA has some DPS checks but one person shouldn't bring the group down, except if the tank dies on Mage and lets all the Axes loose, or a healer dies during the execute and the other healer can't keep up.

    What trial did you do?

PUGs can't even do MoL Twins on normal, can't imagine them trying to do it on vet. Hell my group with half vMoL experienced people and voice comms took 3 days to get past Twins on vet.

Which Trial was it? I can still recall the Hel Ra run where the group lead decided that the best tactic was to have everyone stand in the middle of the Warrior's attacks ON PURPOSE and kept telling off the people who sensibly go out of the way. And complained when the people who did what he said naturally died. :S

But don't give up hope! :) There are good groups out there too. My first vet Sanctum run was when a guildie grabbed me for a PuG run and it was amazing.

The group makes all the difference. It's very fun when you run with a friendly core/open guild group. Don't be discouraged.

It was hel ra. Yeah it was a pug and I was on voice chat- that’s what was bothering me. I wasn’t even the weakest link but it was the opposite of fun. Sticking with norm in future- such venom!

I've done vTrials with unknown people few times, but they were no PUGs, just organized groups that needed an experienced DD or two. We had voice comms, everyone knew what they're doing. During trash fights before bosses leader explained the way THEY're approaching it (hey, some tanks like doing things differently than others, but as long as it works, it's fine). AFAIR, all of the times we made onto the weekly leaderboards.

I can't imagine a vet trial with half of the group members not knowing what they're doing and not having any prior experience.

Veteran trials are a great experience, but for the very first try I'd recommend running with your guild and friends.

Awww don't say that... Vet trials are really fun with a good relaxed group! :)

    Which server are you on?

If it's PC/EU and you fancy a go then drop me a line... my guild do trials at different levels each week, ranging from normal through to stuff like vMOL which we've recently started... and we're starting training runs to help get people into vet trials now as well (Starting at vAA obviously)! More than happy to give you a hand... and there's no venom... promise :)
