Now that outfitter has supplied us "FINALLY" with the ability to Dye our weapons can those of us who don't use outfitter get this ability as well through the normal gear dying process and not just outfitter?

I'm on console so still waiting for the update, but from what I understand from reading PTS notes and news all dye stations are being switched to outfit stations but you can dye your weapons and equipment whether you make an outfit or not.
Edit: my bad, I missed the part where you have to pay gold to dye weapons, sorry.

Pretty sure they're not going to add the functionality outside of the outfitter now.

The outfitter is a new game system which has mostly replaced the old dye systems. I'd imagine the old system was only kept around because of the rage if they charged gold to dye all clothes suddenly.

No. You will only be able to dye weapons with in-game coin through the outfitter system.

The pattern of updates and in-game resources (coin management, item drops, etc.) suggest this will be exclusive to the outfitter system and moreover a "tidy little earner" for them.

The outfitter system was not only messy or ugly in theory, it has already now proven to be confusing and unsatisfactory. Some people are probably trying to change gear (that they could before and still can, simply dye for free) via the outfitter system, unnecessarily paying money and then being teased into paying crowns for further outfit slots as they want to "tweak" several load out appearances.

My personal preference would have been to be able to dye weapons (even at a cost) via the standard system of changing a specific item (rather than a gear piece slot). It is a cumbersome and non-intuitive system with arbitrary parameters set on what can and can't be visualised.

I run one character with 6 load-outs. I would ideally like to have all 6 load-outs unique (as they are now) but be able to add weapon dyes and alter the style on the 1-2 pieces that don't look as good as they could, on each load-out. This would require 6 outfits... I think I will try one outfit for my messiest-looking load-out (or most commonly used) and leave the rest... or simply stick with the gear as it is.

This is exactly what I want and was asking for all along even if it cost gold to do. I am not and never was looking for a page that allowed me to effectively "create a costume" that overrides all the work I spent and enjoy spending creating unique looks. I just want what I always wanted which was to be able to dye my weapons.
