I happened dislike/really [snip] hate the changes ZoS adds but on this I have to say a tool I have thought should have been in the game one day one is here.

To be clear I have been here since beta and have no need for this but it will help new players without the easy mistake new players make. While not endgame it does point you in the right direction.

I would like to see “Set Advisor” added in the future overworld set nothing hardcore just to push new players in the right direction. But this really good. Honestly good job the tips are solid and very straight forward. This was needed for new players and a great job on this one.

I thought it gave good, entry level advice, which was all I expected it to be.

I did have issues with using it with the post-Morrowind system of locking armor and weapon lines until you've killed something with the weapon and worn three pieces of the armo.

I started playing last May and boy was it overwhelming. Having that skill advisor would have been a big help.
I made many mistakes along the way and re-specced I don't know how many times.

It's definitely a big plus to brand new players.

I just hope they don't extend any skill/level advisor stuff to cyrodiil...

if zos does too good a job I won't be able to kill anyone :p

I feel bad for players who follow its advice tho, the choices it encourages a lot of classes to make seem like something someone who's never played the game might suggest. Would suck to follow it from day 1 and realize your whole build is jank after already investing all your points & attributes.

Agree. It makes a LOT of bad 'suggestions' really that later on will just be useless at best.

Anyone else notice that the stamina warden advice suggests skills for a pure bow build? How controversial

Bow/Bow is viable as a Stamden healer.

The skill advisor is good for people learning a class or the game. It is a good addition to the game. Sure its not all that useful for someone who knows the game, but its not meant for that.

I think we will see an uptick in ability with the new players or those new to a class.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

This is where I need a signature that says that I have one of those.

Hopefully this new system will help new players to learn the basics of their class skills. And maybe we’ll see more players in decent-but-non-meta builds.

Not much help from this system for me since I see some weird proposals.
As a stamina warden with 2H and Bow lvl22, it advises to pick Impaling Shards, to deal some insignificant 4488 damage over 12 seconds. In another alt, for stam DK with DW it recommends Lava Whip.

Anyway, this system looks like a step closer into mmo single player mode. Before a new player was asked to join a guild then ask guildies in chat, now they have the system so no need to ask anyone.

Right below the "Skills Advisor" heading, it has "Warden Initiate" selected. That's a magicka archetype, and will give you magicka recommendations.

If you click on the settings button in the Skills Advisor, you can pick from like 4 different archetypes for each class, and get different recommendations. They aren't mind-blowingly better, but in this particular case it's user error (or bad UI design, really).

Let just say it is nice that they included this but it could have been so much better.

Like I said not end game skills but definitely the right direction. You do have to change the settings to your role as magic is the default. In time I don’t believe the picks will get better.

A nice side effect is new players breaking the moles as far a DK and Warden Tanks only or no magic Warden for DPS. If enough casuals stick to off meta role maybe ZoS will add some support of different roles. This is good for new players but may be good in the long run. To break from cookie cutter builds we are forced to run. Who knows.
