looking for a magblade dps/healer build

My night blade has been a magicka tank since like 2.0, but lately ive been getting frustrated with it in trials due to the crap stamina sustain compared to my other tanks, so I think with dragon bones its time to change things up. This will also help me replace the loss of my magdk dps character, who will probably go back to being a tank now with the off balance changes hurting her build so much.

So what I'm looking for is a build that is primarily geared for dps, but can function as a healer for pledges and such (easier time queuing when you're not only a dps). Nightblade has a lot of innate healing potential so it should be too hard to throw on a Resto staff and maybe swap a gear set when I need to fill that role.

I would like to use an inferno staff with this build, and I like the fact that blockade and twisting path compliment each other so well. I assume outside of those and crippling grasp as a single target dot the rotation is probably a simple matter of light weaving funnel health spam and using merciless resolve bow as it procs, transferring from funnel health to impale spam at execute range. What else should be added into the build to compliment that?

Perhaps entropy from the mages guild line for an extra dot? Obviously inner light for crit and max magicka, probably meteor or elemental rage for ultimate?

On the healing side of things it'll probably just be funnel health, sap essence, and resto staff skills otherwise. I'm still waiting to see if malefic/healthy offering is going to be worth using as a burst/emergency heal like breath of life for my templar healer.

Are there any specific gear sets to shoot for? Monster sets?

Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank

Spc + whatever you wany really. Sustain set, a damage set you have choices.

The one issue i guess is properly built full on nb healers generally use refreshing path, whereas proper magblade dps would likely opt for twisting. Not a huge problem honestly.

And once you understand nb healing for dungeons in particular, you will learn that a dedicated burst heal is actually not even that important with how many hots you have rolling, mutagen being one of them. Healing ward is an easy crutch for oh *** moments while you learn how to heal as a nb.

Any alternatives for spc? I hated grinding that set out on my templar healer, would rather not have to do it again if its avoidable.

What monster sets work best for magblade dps?

    Judging by your other forums posts I've seen you won't get why but here it is;

You are going to want to use a lightning staff, not fire. A fire staff does nothing for your group but a fire staff enables DPS

The fire staff is for when I'm running dps, obviously when I'm playing healer it'll be resto and lightning. For dps probably fire front bar and lightning back bar for the aoes

Honestly spc really is the make or break point for a lot of people, but if you dont have it, damage plus sustain set is fine, overkill utility isnt super important in 4 mans. If you want to run a monster set, i would personally go 5 peice spc (or a damage set), 4 piece moon dancer, and skoria if you are max cp. If you arent i would swap skoria with troll king and moon dancer with twilight remedy or a back bar lich (lich is the only proc and swap sustain set in the game).

SPC is fantastic on a healer/dps nightblade, you should wear it even if you're more geared for DPS than heals.

If you want to avoid hunting purple SPC just run a dropped DPS gear set to go with it. Mother's Sorrow, War Maiden, Scathing Mage etc are all still very good.

Bsw is a possibility and you're on a magnb so you can farm coa1 pretty quick and painless if you catch my drift

SPC farming is not hard ... you could ask all your friends / PUG groupmates rush run instead of killing everything , it takes about 30 mins with normal CP & well known mechanics players .

DPS is rule #1 in ESO , as a healer , you have to try your best to bump up dpser power and healing at the same time.
    SPC is a must .
Kill the boss faster that reduce the tank pressure and sometime skip specific mechanics .

Actually I think monsters are not required for a healer , run 5-5-1 is better .

    Innate Axiom and War Maiden.

800 spell damage to all of your class based abilities (which, in turn boosts your dps and heals). Done.
Want to enjoy the game more? Try both PvP (crybabies) and PvE (carebears). You'll get a better perspective on everyone's opinion.

It seems to be a good read. Thanks for sharing that. I like reading a lot of different builds, always interesting to compare.

Also, pretty sure you can buy key fragments and gamble for SPC pieces. It’s a pretty stale farm for most people. Wait for it to be the pledge and run it 3-4 times. To a lot of people, SPC is a deal breaker for healers. You should make it a priority if you are serious about healing.

War Maiden doesn't buff heals (only the heal from Funnel Health, because it is based on damage done).
Both don't buff resto and destro staff skills.

I'm running SPC + Julianos on my Magblade Healer. Buffs all my damage, my healing and my allies.

As an interesting side note, my magicka night blade is currently a tank using 5 livewire, 5 bahraha's curse, 1 chudan and 1 pirate skeleton with shield front bar and resto staff back bar, running around 30k resistances, 35k health, and 25k magicka / 2k magicka recovery.

Using that setup with no alterations last night I healed all the vet pledges no issue, was actually kinda fun being such a tough healer. Our tank went down to ilambris due to missing a block and getting flame bursted at the same time, and I was easily able to taunt the warrior and revive the tank while still healing.

Definitely made for some interesting runs.

I am sure it works great, but this is where we get into what is optimal and what is not optimal. Other than a heroic rez when someone messed up, you really arent doing much for your group. Great for pugs, bad for good players.

Remember that kind of the whole reason we are seeing SPC destro/resto mageblade healers is because they are able to provide the minimum acceptable amount of buffs/debuffs and group heals, and still pull more DPS than the average player in the right hands. Personally, I dont see the point of a mageblade healer if you arent going to play to that, at least to some degree.
