The problem with this statement, much as I agree in sentiment, is the practicality of enforcing bans for 'exploiting' when players can literally and truthfully say all they were doing is what ZOS just told them to go do.
1. ZOS introduces as major new feature --> Housing storage
2. ^^ One of the only three ways to acquire storage is via telvar - if players can't or won't buy real life money crowns, or dislike/never did crafting, then telvar farming is the option ZOS gave
3. Day 1 of launch, how reasonable is it that players who want storage would make a beeline for IC and start farming telvar? Seems pretty logical to me.
So the bottom line question is - how reasonable is it to insist players stop farming telvar because they saw they were getting lots of XP, and even more important - when you're already past CP cap, how many players even bother to pay attention to the +XP messages?
**Edit - and no, I hadn't stepped foot in IC today. I bought all 7 storage chests/coffers with vouchers as I have 14 crafters - but the point is imo you can't enforce a ban for 'exploiting' when the net would catch players who simply went and farmed the resource ZOS just said they needed for the new storage feature.
I stand by my statement. If someone is caught obviously cheating, then perma-ban them. If someone is just doing their thing and passively gaining a benefit of which they may not be aware, then no ban. Cheaters typically communicate with other cheaters: “Hey! Come do this thing that is exploiting the XP!” “Cool! On my way!” ZoS is handling these on a case-by-case basis, which will probably entail a review of communications by the people making use of the exploit.
Grinding mobs in an mmo is cheating? Is it cheating to watch ur tv on ur 2nd screen while mind numbingly farming pve mobs?
How many players at max lvl are paying attention to their xp gains?
I remember when the skillpoint boss in the bangkorai group dungeon was bugged and ppl got dinged bc they were doing the normal gear farm rotation there that includes 3 of the delve bosses and the group event which are all within 50ft of each other.
This onus falls on zos, their lack of proper q&a, and using live as a beta test
If you read what I wrote instead of knee-jerk responding to the first sentence, you’ll see I covered this.
I am maxed CPs, so when I play I don't look at XP at all. If I had played today, I'd never notice I was gaining so much exp...
makes me feel bad that one day I could get banned because I did not check these things.
