I recently redesigned some of my argonian ladies because i got tired of some of their outfits.

First, my Warden Healer who really needed some fancy dress:

Honor Guard chest, Elder argonian shoulders, fang lair legs, ancient elf belt, honor guard gloves and anequina staff

Second, my clockwork fire lizard
(hard to decide on a skin so i usually swap between peryite, fabricaion sheath and this blood-forged one x'D)

elder argonian chests, apostle shoulders, sunspire hands, apostle legs, horned dragon belt, pellitine shoes, elder argonian hat and engine guardian staff

Back playing again after a 2 year hiatus. Got lots of tinkering to do with outfits. Haven't touched any alts yet, just my templar main, Maia Lucetius. Currently rocking full Divine Prosecution motif, in Palatine White and Legate black. Weapons are palatine white and hel ra citadel metallic gray since the black looked too dark.

Here are some of my characters. I added a brief description for each of them as it give some explanation about their choices of outfits. These pictures are not the best, I might post better ones later.

Taelia : (stamblade DPS)
Some people just like to show of. They go for the shiniest and pretiest armors, the most extravagents and opulent weapons.
Taelia is not one of them. Her clothes answer to practical considerations before anything else.
Also, her weapon of predilection is a pulley bow that she crafted herself.
PS : I don't like how light altmer, like a lot of torso in this game, make flat chest appear much bigger than they are.

Gifted infiltrator, she also have a light armor for when battle is unavoidable :

Mahra Tiibruc : (Templar healer)
Protecting Nature is Mahra Tiibruc's goal in life, and the reason why she will often be found surveying the largest and wildest forest of Tamriel.
But, as a proud - even if dismissed by her parents - daughter of the Breton Nobility, She would never accept to do it wearing foul rags.
Her clothes, while somehow adapted to a life in the wild, are carefully selected for their elegance, like a reminiscence of her true social status.

Rhog : (Stam DK tank)
The emblems of the Domain's Bull might be the reflect of his allegiance, but you would need to be a fool to assume that this tall and large person is a dainty high-elf.
He is a true son of Skyrim, and his allegiance to the Adventurer-Queen of the Aldmery Dominion change nothing to this !
His choice of armor is suited for heavy fighting and haunted dungeons crawling, as they are his favorites leasures.

Soron Af-Zincourt : (DK crafter with no single point in anything combat related)
Doesn't this reguard look fierce in his black and gold armor ?
The clothes don't make the man. He would probably don't even know of to hold his mace if he was required to use it.
But, his risotto is marvelous, just as anything he cooks.

Camile Aethori : (magblade frost-tank)
Being a high-elf is generally not associated with being a joyful non-conformist and clumsy person, but Camile is an exeption.
This state of mind and her love for the Bandarii culture are the reasons why she took the roads years ago, leaving the country of her parents behind as the boat sailed off Alinor.
Her once fine clothes suffered heavily from her time on the road, but she don't really care about such trivial things. Encountering new culture is the only thing that matter.
Also, she hates having her feet enclosed, believing that feeling the ground make her more alert in combat situations.

Patauge-à-contre-courant (Wade-against-the-flow) : (necro tank/dps)
Wade-against-the-flow spent years as the slave of a necromancer. Secretely, he learned from his master, until he had gathered enought power to kill him in a struggle for freedom.
Since then, he leaved as a paria, disgusted by what he have become. He hopefully have met some friendly peoples who now share the roads with him.
As he say, life is a night without dawn, but, at least, I have a star of frindship to guid me.
He mostly wear traditionnal argonian clothing. his staff and his hood were taken from the dead body of his former master.

This post makes me lament the absence of a biography panel we could fill in/read. Some people put a lot of thought into their characters, it would be nice to be able to see it.

I personally don't use them, but I think that there is some add-ons that allow you to write and share your biography.
Well, if you are on PC and are not opposed to using add-ons of course...

I've also started using the "notebook" (an other add-on) to keep tracks of one of my character's adventures (Camile). As soon as I have a time (and a location, like a campfire) to make a pause, I stop for a minute and write her personal journal. It is pretty funny and refreshing I think, as it oblige you to go slowly and always play in-character, even when solo. It's also useful when you don't play as often as you want...

But, yes, having all theses kind of things in the base game would be great.

I wish I'd known about that addon. When I created my character "Stephen of Canada," it was as a kind of thought experiment, to "experience" the world through my own eyes, as a person from our reality. As part of this, I started writing a journal detailing his experiences and thoughts. I spent two years doing that, it was somewhere around 200 pages on a USB stick... that mysteriously quit working. All of it was lost, alas.
