Elf bane testing?

has anyone done any dps testing on the elf bane set? I dont think I've ever seen it used, but the 5 piece bonus is "Increases the duration of your flame damage effects by 2 seconds). I would assume that effect applies to all flame damage, including the burning status effect, blockade of fire, searing strike, engulfing flames, eruption, etc. etc.

It seems like it could be a somewhat viable set with the new changes to off balance pushing us away from lightning damage. Combine it with burning spellweave and valkyn skoria perhaps?

I wonder if it also increases the duration of the +10% fire damage taken debuff from engulfing flames?

Additionally, if casting elemental rage (destruction staff ultimate) from a fire staff, would it last an extra 2 seconds, giving it the same duration as lightning elemental rage but with the extra damage done?

Last I heard, which was like a year ago lol, Gina said it should. At the time it was bugged as was not. It must be tested to be sure, but it should

Wish I had my own target dummy to test all this stuff, my guilds are dead and nobody had one lol.

It would be interesting if this set became decent after the update as an alternative to a lightning staff for magdk. Focus more on dots and such.

The jewelry is healthy. You are going to be missing out on 3k mag, no matter what. That is huge and bigger then only 2 more ticks on the skills you have mentioned.

It's an easy to obtain set for a non-vet Magicka DK ... indeed my non-vet Magicka DK has it with 3 jewelry.

However, it's the last day of PTS, @Lynx7386.

So, a little late for your PC friends to do some testing on it alongside Zaan.

I don't have my Magicka DK on PTS either since I'm PC NA. A couple weeks ago I did.

So I purchased a cheap set on live just to test what I could. It definitely works for searing strike, eruption, engulfing flames, destructive clench, elemental blockade, and elemental rage. It also increases the burning duration for burning talons, but not the root duration. The extra damage bonus from engulfing flames seems like it should last longer but its hard to to tell.

I haven't yet been able to tell if it works for proc sets or the burning status effect but I think it might. Further testing needed.

There's definitely the issue of whether or not the overall benefit is worth losing 3k magicka from rings or what another set might give in its place. It sure would be nice if I could do a 5-5-2 setup with a staff

So I took a little time to round up this set on pts in Cyrodiil to test with Zan...

You get two more ticks with it (8 total) and with engulfing flames it was getting up to 14k ticks on that stone dummy, wearing 5 heavy with champ points in and major breach up...

as far as Pve dps I don't think it will be worth while. Though it is nice to have a little more wiggle room in rotation with the extra two seconds.

Though this could become a very strong combo in pvp if used correctly and land your link for full duration.

I used it all the time on my dk pre morrowind. I know that all dks fire dots work for it, including burning talons, banner, magma and even the dust cloud thing. The fire destro dots work too, aswell as the ult. I used it alot with destro sword and board back then but now it's a lackluster build.

So if its not worthwhile for dps, I wonder if a dk tank could make good use of it? Longer uptime on fire debuffs like engulfing flames and eruption snare, longer duration on searing strike for a bigger heal at the end, etc?

Ever do any further testing with it now transmutable? Seems like an extra 2 seconds of Zaan, all flame abilities, destro Ult (and maybe Meteor?) would be pretty clutch. Especially given the rather dynamic rotation DK’s have to normally do with the weird timings on their DOT’s.

Right now without Elf Bane, my rotation looks like this:

Pre-cast channeled acceleration (may switch to Rearming Trap), Flames of Oblivion.

Eruption LA Blockade LA Standard SWITCH
Engulfing LA Burning Embers LA Whip x 3 (with LA’s) SWITCH Blockade LA SWITCH 2 whips LA Engulfing LA Embers LA SWITCH
Then back to Eruption etc.

I recast Flames of Oblivion every second switch, and I usually do a Spell Symmetry when switching off front bar
