Solo Dungeon Mode & trials in Activity Finder

Hello, everyone! Hope you’re all doing well.

As the title suggests, I want to propose the concept of a Dungeon Solo Mode & Looking for group (LFG) for trails in Activity Finder. I know the Looking for group for trials was already proposed and is something many want but I want to know people opinion on a Solo Dungeon Mode.

As someone who plays Solo almost 100%, has extreme difficulty finding people to do pretty much anything group oriented with and is a completionist, I am hoping for a Solo Dungeon Mode. I’ve wanted to farm the DLC dungeon motifs for months now as well as complete vet ICP that after years of release haven’t even completed yet (I am a 690CP player) but cannot, because I never find anyone willing to help or participate. I know this sounds like a personal problem but I can’t help but feel I am not the only one.

Anyway, I am suggesting a Solo Dungeon Mode for the following reasons:

-As stated before, it is difficult to find people and form cooperative groups.

-Makes dungeon motif farming more accessible.

-Gives people who like vMA more Challanging Solo Content.

-Can actually go through the dungeon quests and get what is going on rather than spaming next because the rest of the group who already done it are impatiently waiting for me.

-Unduanted keys and monster sets are more accessible.

-Some peoples internet can’t handle additional players in the same place. XD

I would like to hear the community opinion on this. And If most of you agree or think it’s a good Idea maybe Zos will see this and implement it in the future?

P.S. I’m on PS4 EU server for anyone who was wondering.

Edit: added an additional reason.

I wanted to add that I think Solo trials would be cool too, but I feel that’s asking for too much tbh. :#

Yep, I feel exactly the same. As a solo player, it kind of feels like a portion of the game is completely locked away from us. It'd be great to have the option of doing it solo. Some people would argue it's an MMO and so you should have to group but I say play how you want to play. :)

Yeah you're right it is. But like I said, people should be able to play how they want to. If they want to play solo, then they should be able too.

We're not 'whining', we are making a point in the hope that ZOS listen to our idea. If you stay silent with something you don't like, then there's no hope of changing it. :)

yep, amazing - to think folks like @Derlfak have little desire to interact with folks expressing this type of mindset...

pledge dungeons with either scaled instances (based on group members - including a group of one); or, some type of story mode would be great...

it would open up a wealth of content for many of the game's solo community...

I'd love at least a story mode. I've done pretty much every dungeon in game at least once but I don't know what any of the quests for any of them are. Vague ideas, especially the ones where you get stuck waiting for an NPC to deliver 1+ minute of dialogue before you can move on (VoM, I'm looking at you) but I've never actually read through the lines, much less listened to them when you can spam next so you can run and catch up with the people who've already done the dungeon. I've been fortunate to at least have people let me grab quests and wait for me to complete them, but taking my time to enjoy/appreciate what's going on is a different matter entirely. A scaled instance where you can repeat the quest if you want (without the gear/skill point bonus at end if you've already done it) would be fantastic!

You can solo most normal dungeons and a few vet now. Besides turning off a couple of mechanics where your toon is trapped and another player needs to release you, how would it be different?

I get the interest in soloing the dungeons. It is hard to actually play through the story in a group because the other people are usually hoping for a fast clear, a key and crystals.

Yeah, the story element is a big part of it imo. You cant really enjoy the story of the dungeon when the group is rushing ahead. You're right about the some dungeons being able to be solo'd, although the DLC dungeons are a bit too tough (at least for me, I've been getting wrecked by Mighty Chudan :disappointed: )

The other way they could do it is implement bots for good instead of evil.

To give it that sense of immersion they could set it up that:

Tank bots could target and taunt the mob with the highest health and be obsessed with chests and heavy sacks.

Healer bots could heal in an area around the tank and complain about where you are standing.

DPS bots could die randomly and have the rare chance to drop a salty hate whisper about some aspect of your toon or playstyle.

What? If you want to do a dungeon solo, just port to it and solo it. And yes, DLC dungeons can all be soloed, even vCoS....but they are a real challenge to do and will require specific builds.

I am so much in agreement with ALL of you.
The main factor for the solo for me is the enjoyment.
I want to know the story behind the dungeon rather than feeling like I'm jumping on a bus to get to the end destination.
There are some beautiful group dungeons but I never get to enjoy them.
I don't care about XP or motifs or any of that.

I just want to play what I pay for.
If I pay for Dungeon Bones or Falkreath DLC as ESO PLUS, then I should be able to enjoy it as an individual. ]

    1. I am firmly against a solo dungeon mode. For starters, SWTOR did this and it was sad how pathetically easy it was. Granted, the rewards were reduced but the challenge of the content was a total joke. After all, this is a MMO. It is a move for a game to do when the decent players have mostly left. ESO is not there yet.

    2. I can see normal trials being added to GF. Even nDSA. They are easy enough. Heck, easier than vet dungeons. However, vet trials should never be in GF. It would be such a terrible train wreck in so many ways that it would be a horrid decision. Yes, many would use it then come to the forums complaining about how bad everyone else was (even though they were part of the problem). They would clamor for requirements to use the GF (even though they were part of the problem). We already see this with GF as it is.

Guild wars 1 had a cool way of handling this. essentially, you could group up with NPCs in instanced spaces (which for guild wars 1 was everywhere but cities and staging areas). Your xp and drops would increase if you were on your own, but for places where you need the tank or healing or second body for mechanics you could grab a specific class of companion.

Also, +1 to story mode for dungeons; we should at least be able to replay quests.

I would like, as some people suggested, a "story mode" that would allow players to complete dungeons solo and experience the story at their own pace.

While soling some dungeons is possible, it is often not a very pleasant experience and hardly worth the effort just to experience the story.

I've been saying since beta 2014 that it would be a great to have a story mode for dungeons and trials so you can go in solo with the remaining spots being filled by NPC undaunted characters and just experience the stories... far to often I'm with groups that just want to rush through the dungeon or trial and yet SO much work goes into this content it's a shame to not fully experience it as it should be experienced.

Things like item sets and achievements can be removed from this version as ultimately it's about the story... sadly no one has listen to me yet!
