Please explain fishing nodes

I was told once that if you want a specific node to appear, you have to farm that water type so it will appear in other places. So say if you want foul water nodes to respawn, you have to farm all of the foul water nodes for the to continue to respawn.

So if that's true, why arent ANY of the foul water nodes(I have a mod that shows where they all are) spawning in Hew's Bane? I dont want to waste bait on other nodes since I have all of the rare fish from the other water types. Not if I dont have to.

This is really frustrating because I've been running between all 11 nodes for the last 2 hours and zilch, nada, squat.

That's not how fishing nodes work at all. They spawn exactly the same way as any other resource nodes do, on a timer.

Took me 2 weeks to get the final fish is Reaper's and another week to get the last one in Shadowfen. RNG can sometimes be a real...well...pain.

You misunderstand... it's not the fish... it's entire node. I even tried turning of every mod, reloading the game, logout/login and still no nodes are showing up.

Yeah, I worded that poorly. The reason it took that long to get those final fish was abysmal (from my POV) node respawning rates. I understand exactly what you mean and I'm not sure on the explanation as to why these nodes seem to take forever. And some nodes, I swear, respawn faster than others. I just put it down to someone beating me to it whilst I ran the circuit.

They FINALLY started spawning... dunno what happened but it's working

I needed the ocean blue fish in Deshaan and was checking all the holes several times a day. I didn't see any for eight days and finally submitted a report. Right after I submitted the report the holes were up. Trying for the last fish I needed to get the achievement I was running four foul holes. For a while they would pop back up quick enough I could just run a circle without having to wait. Then they just quit. I would check back every ten to fifteen minutes and finally gave up. Next day two of them were up and I got lucky grabbing the last fish I needed.

As an aside a friend of mine wrote a really good fishing guide that is still for the most part relevant. If you are new to fishing you might give it a read. It can be found on Deltias site.

Well, I sit corrected!

Oddly I don't recall Hew's Bane giving me any trouble. Reaper's and Shadowfen almost saw me give up.

@DieAlteHexe When you were fishing foul water in Reaper's march, did you have trouble finding foul holes? With the exception of Hew's bane, which i believe 100% to be bugged, a zone should always have ATLEAST 1 of each type of water hole(Ocean, lake, river, foul) active at any given time if it has achievement fish tied to the water type.

If you did indeed have trouble finding foul holes in Reaper's march, i believe you were just unaware of 1 of the 5 foul spots that exist in the zone.

This map shows the location of all 5 foul holes in the entire zone


As for Hew's bane not giving you any trouble, that's rng for ya, you must have been lucky with catching all rare fish and that you had foul holes available when you needed them

I just did Reaper's March foul water, and between the 2 near Arenthia and the two near Sren'ja right by the World Boss, it wasn't too bad.

They could also fix the spawn locations for ocean fish in Cyrodiil (AD zone). Only one or two are accesible, while in order to reach the rest you have to swim and be either a tank or an argonian (or both). due to their recent addition of slaughterfish.

I had plenty of holes in Reaper's but they all hated me. Let me check and see if I did find all 5, I think I did...Nope! Wrong again, only 4.

Yeah, Hew's was no issue. Reaper's and Shadowfen really, reallllly got on my nerves. Not looking forward to them on the next round.

@DieAlteHexe Good luck on the next rounds, i've done it a few times myself between multiple characters, shadowfen can always be a pain, especially when it comes to foul

You've confused me a bit, i was talking about Reaper's march only having 5 foul holes, not Hew's Bane. I'm fully aware of all the foul holes in Hew's Bane.

Omgosh, Shadowfen was the absolute worst...

I never want to go back there ever again lol!

Reaper's foul and stonefalls river were the worst for me. My favorite was Vvardenfell. Had great RNG and made quite a bit of gold from perfect roe. That was actually what pulled me back into fishing.
