Can a character be bugged to not get common drops?

I posted a few days ago about what a waste of time it is to do Vvardenfell dailies for Ashlander and Morag Tong motifs. The responses surprised me and indicated that both Morag Tong and Ashlander motifs were fairly common from those dailies.

Could I have some sort of bug preventing me from getting those motifs? I don't know the last time I got one but it's been more than 6 weeks and I do the dailies every day.

I'd hope it's just unprecedented bad RNG but given the drops rates others are getting, I'm wondering if it's something else.

Could your character be bugged? Anything in an MMO can be bugged.

Since your first thread on the subject seems to have not brought someone forward saying they had a similar issue I'd suggest this on won't either.

Try bringing another character through to do the dailies. Just a thought.

I got one Morag Tong motif, from the very first Vvard daily I did when Morrowind came out. I've done dozens since, on 3 different toons. I have yet to get another. I've never gotten an Ashlander motif so far either. The only reason I do those dailies now is to help other players complete them. Also no luck farming BA even with two toons that have the Treasure Hunter perk.

By comparison, I've only done a handful of dailies for CWC, not even enough to get any of the related achievements, and I've gotten 3 Apostle motifs and 1 Ebonshadow.

It's probably Vvard and not you, if I was to guess. I ended up buying MT and Ash. Ash was pretty cheap, but just finding certain MT pieces took a while--I'd check TTC, and for certain pieces there'd be maybe 5 listings, but when I'd go to the traders, they'd be already sold. That scarcity suggests the overall drop rate isn't that good, given how many people were still doing the WB daily at that time.

I did months on my main not getting Morang Tong drops it took 5 characters expecting about one every 12 to 13 things done to get a drop. Thats my expierienced of the drop rate at least. I was farming them for a while to complete ended up buying a few and then to sell because it was worth a bit due to horrible drop rate.

RNG is RNG, I have gone weeks without getting any of those motif chapters and then I've gotten one a day for a few days, then back to weeks without.

Good news, this makes me feel better. In other threads, it seemed everyone was getting motifs nearly every day.

Bad news, the RNG is still my worst enemy in this game! But it keeps me coming back...

I guess anything is possible. Some players are also blessed. For example, the one guy here on the forums who is always bragging about getting 350 BA motifs while the rest of us get none.

It's a small sample size, but I finished the Vivec story line and along with the TH passive I have gotten 1 MT motif and 1 Ash motif since early November doing Vvardenfell dailies along with 3 BA motifs doing the chest insanity farming during that time. I still do the dailies but the chest farming is done, I did the math too as you posted before and realized I was farming sadness there. Plus for the last couple of weeks in January I was coming across an increasing number of already opened chests with only a trash item in it.

I don't know if my motif RNG is average or not but for all other dailies and farming where motifs are available that I do I'm averaging about 1 motif per month. That doesn't include the Skinchanger and Hollowjack motifs although I did those events every day with multiple characters and still had to buy some to complete the collection. I participated in the Orsinium event too and still do the Wrothgar dailies from time to time but to this day I've received zero motifs. I tried my luck with glass motifs but 3 out of 6 were repeats so I'm waiting to see if they're going to have them traded for writ vouchers, it'll be a lot cheaper that way.
