Idea: an optional Veteran Main Story

So, after completing the Main Story the other day on one of my newest characters, I realized that the Main Story is a little too easy for those with a lot of CPs, like me.

The solution I'm thinking of is a Veteran mode of the Main Story that can be played through once a character reaches Level 50 and has completed the main story. Maybe Cadwell can offer a quest "Re-Shriven" or something like that to send us back to the Harborage (or maybe even a Veteran Wailing Prison), and let us play through the main quest again, with increased difficulty, and maybe better rewards and more skill points.

This solution could also work for the Mages and Fighters Guild quests to make them more engaging as well for higher level players too.

Thoughts?

The Main Story wasn't meant to be played by Veterans and be challenging. That's what Craglorn was for...or, supposed to be for.

Actually, it was. They reduced its difficulty quite a bit after complaints came in (Doshia anyone? :p) if I remember correctly. Also, that's 2014 thinking. The game has greatly changed since then.

The alliance zones were never meant to be visited once the quests were completed. The came one Tamriel and look at them now. :)

Umm, thats what Caldwell's Silver(and Gold) was all about...you were able to play those after completing the main quest(I think I finished it at lvl48) and was VR7(CP70) by the end of silver and VR15(CP150) by the end of gold...at the time all the enemies were scaled to the zone...at the start of silver you were facing VR3 enemies and by the end of gold you were facing VR16 enemies

Those are the alliance zones. I meant the actual Main Quest, with the Prophet. They fixed the obsolete zone issue with One Tamriel already.

It wasn't an issue if you played the game as intended...finishing quests in one zone before moving to the next...and the actual main quest interwove with the zone quests. Essentially One Tamriel broke what you are wanting "fixed". On that same note...once I finish a quest on this game, unless its a skill point quest, I never want to play it again, the writing in this game just isn't that great.

Sure CP makes facing Mannimarco and his waves of skeletons easier. And Mannimarco with his waves of Redguard heroes. So does experience. If you want the authentic experience, maybe trying doing it on a leveling character with no CP and mismatched gear?

Honestly, those Redguard heroes still kick my butt if I'm not really careful. I'm with Abnur Tharn. "The next time you hide something from the most powerful necromancer in all of Tamriel, you might reconsider hiding it in a bloody tomb!"

You don't see an issue with 90% of the game being obsolete once a character reaches level cap? That was pretty bad to be honest. I did the pre-One Tamriel system and it was very boring. One Tamriel makes sure all content is relevant at all times and that all players can join together. Regardless, that's not what this thread is about, as the Main Quest can be completed at any level now as well.

This is simply asking for essentially a Story+ Mode, that can be done AFTER you complete the Main Quest for the first time on a character. Right now, Molag Bal dies quicker and hits weaker than the Whisperer. On Normal difficulty.

I just don't assign CP on my alt while under 50, or only for specific content, and after that, I'll probably do it in batches.
Not that it's extraordinary hard, either, but it's not as skewed as with full CP.

Wasn't a problem for me, since by the time I reached max CP(which was per character by the way, not account-wide) I had completed that content, and for more challenging content I went to Craglorn solo, or to IC, but they have since nerfed both into the ground to make it more accesible. These days the only content still marginally challenging is vet trials and vet DLC dungeons. There is no difference to me in doing overland content after reaching max CP now vs. then...pathetically easy either way. The only noticeable difference is that I now have to swap gear and skills on my tank to go questing now...which is a negative, not a positive.

I would love if there was a way to re-fight Molag Bal, at something like vMA level difficulty.
