New Weapon Skill Line

So, during one of the recent ESO live streams the words "new weapon line" slipped out of someone's mouth, leading me to believe that a new weapon line will be included in the upcoming Chapter update. Let's speculate on what it might be.

1) One-hand and Rune - the icon for this skill line was found in the game files since launch. Like the Warden, it looks like this was abandoned in early development. Could it be reintroduced in the upcoming Chapter, finally enabling classic spellswords and replacing these strange magicka dual-wielders?
2) Alteration Staff - Imagine a new support-based backbar for healers, full of group buffs and enemy debuffs. Or perhaps they'll revert the Ice Staff tanking and let Alteration staffs serve as the magicka tanking staff.
3) Unarmed - a classic Elder Scrolls combat style that has gotten no love in ESO. Will it finally happen?

I don't know. What other ideas are bouncing around out there?

Im hoping for 1h rune or unarmed. Both of these are classic TES and need to be implemented.

Honestly I'd be so happy with any kind of new weapon skill line

Would also like crossbows as a bow variant that works kinda like the destro staves (crossbow gives 10% more dmg when melee range, bow gives something else when long range, for example). I think i heard that idea from Giliamtherogue but I can't stop thinking about it now cause it makes so much aense

H2H would definitely be a good addition, another would be the 1H / Rune, it could be something similar to a 1H in one hand and a magic spell in the other, like in Skyrim...

Maybe special gauntlets? Or passives depending on the class of gloves you have on.

If we are just speculating, this would seem the most likely to me...
    2) Alteration Staff - Imagine a new support-based backbar for healers, full of group buffs and enemy debuffs. Or perhaps they'll revert the Ice Staff tanking and let Alteration staffs serve as the magicka tanking staff.
I kinda doubt it... any "weapon" skill lines will more likely be -weapons- rather then support options. I would think "alteration" to make a better guild skill line, really... possibly if they ever expand the mages guild?
    3) Unarmed - a classic Elder Scrolls combat style that has gotten no love in ESO. Will it finally happen?
Ditto, doesn't seem too likely if they are adding just one skill line, since there are more likely ideas around.
I don't know. What other ideas are bouncing around out there?
    Well... https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/371862/additional-weapon-skill-ideas-mk-ii ;)
And no surprise, I would most love to see ALL of the ones I speculated about in that discussion. And also the additional options for the existing skills!

I think the OP's ideas are fairly valid, though I would substitute "one hand and <item>" for "one hand and rune". The <item> could be, oh, a totem, or an idol, or a magical artefact of some kind. But these are semantics, really, the point is you end up with either a "battlemage" type (magicka-based melee) or a fighter-mage hybrid going back to the old D&D days.

I would add, however, a couple more ideas based on what I have observed in other MMOs.

    - Runestone. This is a direct rip from LOTRO where one of the classes, err...basically holds two rocks in their hands and uses those to cast spells. Which looks unusual to begin with, but the fun bit about that class (Runekeeper) is that it has a dynamic counter where casting more "killy" spells skews it one way, while casting more "healy" spells skews it another. In other words, you can build up to be a powerful healer, or a powerful mage, or just yo-yo in-between over the course of a fight.

Which is difficult to implement within ESO's system, of course, but at least it's a way to cast stuff without the staff.

    - Voice. Per Skyrim. You'd probably need to hold some small object in the hand (both to "trigger" the skill line and to differentiate from "unarmed"), but then basically cast stuff without the staff...again.

Another possibility is to hold a one handed weapon and cast stuff with the voice but also smash stuff with the sword. So there is your hybrid fighting style.

    - Thrown weapon. Which you can take in a number of directions - from making it a close-range ranged alternative to the bow, to varying different weapons (darts, bombs, daggers, etc.) for different effects. Would require quite a bit of animation though.

As a variation - Gambit, meaning melee staff on the front bar and thrown weapons on the back bar. Make skills on both stamina/magicka morphable (again - Gambit!) in order to give both player subtypes something to do...or, for a change, make an effective stam/mag hybrid!

Unarmed would never work with itemization, people already complain about 2handers not counting as 2 set items, can you imagine not getting set bonuses for weapons at all?
Also, with how poorly they've treated hybrids, do you really think 1h/rune has any place?

They made frost staves for tanking specifically because it was too much work to make a whole new weapon skill line. I don't think were likely to ever see more weapon lines added.
    PS4 / NA
    M'asad - Khajiit Nightblade - Healer
Pakhet - Khajiit Dragonknight - Tank
Raksha - Khajiit Sorcerer - Stamina DPS
Bastet - Khajiit Templar - Healer
Leonin - Khajiit Warden - Tank

I view unarmed as a few abilities you can use while armed.

During one of the Dragon Bones live stream videos Wrobel slipped it and was quickly shushed by the others. It could've been misdirection/trolling of course, but I lean toward thinking it was an intentional slip.

If they make an Unarmed line, it could easily have all Morphs a choice between Stam and Mag. Make it flexible, and capable of restoring your highest resource on heavy attacks.
That would be neat to see..

I also like the idea of Staff+Shield.

Golly goodness Wrobel is a wreck. That's awesome (for the players) that it slipped out so we can speculate.

I have a good feeling that the new weapon line will have something to do with the spellcrafting that was datamined.

You wanna run stamina, cool, we have: sword and board, 2 handed, axes, daggers and a bow too...
You wanna run magicka? lul...we have this staff, and then...that other staff too. Whats that? Oh, you can only hold the staff with 2 hands...so good luck getting that dual wield item bonus...even though you are using both hands.
