How to play Stamplar in PvP *HELP*

CallMeBigPapi
Need some help from any badass stamplars out there. I main a nightblade and have recently started learning stamplar, but I can't get the hang of it.

I have two setups I use
1) SnB 2H (I prefer dizzy swing and blocking)
a) Bone pirate clever alch and BS
b) Bone pirate hundings and 1 velidreth or BS
2) DW 2H (is it better? I see a lot of badasses who don't run SnB)
a) ravager and bone pirate (meta)

Seems to me that the best players use medium (correct me if I'm wrong), heavy on the other hand is used by noobs because it carries and can keep people alive, but then again it has the reputation of outperforming medium.

I have issues with damage and sustain

DAMAGE

2h and SnB seem to work better for me. Dizzy, db, and jabs are pretty nasty.

dual wield on the other hand just doesn't cut it. javelin is easily blockable/ dodgeable even though it says it's not, it's also kind of glitchy and expensive. Also, power of the light and jabs just doesn't seem to kill people consistently, whereas with a 2h the dizzy swing stun wrecks people

HEALING & SUSTAIN

My weapon damage is about 3.5k and about 2.4k recov for either setup

vigor tooltip is about 14k

-The only passive I'm missing is reduce cost by 4% for stam, mag, and ult abilities
-I use repentance
-I heavy attack weave
-I keep my heals and buffs up (which rune focus morph is better?)

So I don't understand why I can't sustain, what am I missing here? I seem to burn through my stam twice as fast as the best stamplars when I watch their clips.

As far as healing goes I can barely tank two people, 3 decent players= death. Good stamplars seem to bob and weave through 5 man groups no problem but I cant move that fast and keep my guard up.

Obviously I don't want to sit there and soak up damage in medium. I kite, block and try to burst people down but I'm too squishy and run out of stam really quick.

So how do I stamplar? Leave any tips and tricks below to help a noob learn a new class

The point of running DW/2H is to stack bleeds that ignore physical resistance and blocking ie dw and 2h axe bleeds, cleave and twin slashes, which works great with POTL.

If you want to go with SnB/2H try 7th Legion - turtle with SnB until it procs and then burst them down with the dizzy jabs combo

Javelin is best used at close range to make it harder to dodge.

For rune focus, I usually go with restoring because of the extra tankiness and the 8% healing buff stacking with the minor mending you get from the restoring light passive. Channeled is probably better for vampires because the mag return ignores the mist form penalty.

For sustain, obviously get that 4% cost reduction passive. 2.4k recovery is well above the 2k-ish norm, so maybe give a little bit up for some extra damage to make your fights shorter. Stamplar benefits a lot from stacking raw weapon damage because of the 6% from balanced warrior passive. One thing I've overlooked for way too long was the usefulness of crafted pots over alliance over alliance ones and the medicinal use passive from Alchemy. Also, I believe 2h restores slightly more stam from heavy attacks than SnB - there's a page with the values on uesp.net, but can't find it right now.

i feel you man, i also tried everything you wrote there and i barely reach those numbers other guys reach. And i feel like whole Cryodill uses cost increase poisons, i need over 2.5k regen to be able to fight, otherwise i lose much stamina.

I like he channeled focus morph. The one that gives you magicka because I don’t run forward momentum or shuffle, I have to spam cleansing

best stamplars are medium stamplars, usually with 2h/Dw , this is my experience from 2000 hours + cyrodiil and duels.

Other things also work, but not that well in a small scale group. Which is where stamplar truly shines.

if you prefer blocking and dizzy swing than stick with that. Still alot of burst damage from Dizzy, dawnbreaker, jabs. Run that set up you brought up first: BP, Clever, BS. You can try dw2h as well. I'd drop alchemist for ravager since I find that set works better for dw builds. Stick with bone pirate and bs. The rest is all in practice. Your tool tip numbers seem fine as well.

So on 2h&SnB(HA) POTL-Uppercut dizzying swing as a burst combo.
Can someone give me the skill setup for 2h&bow(dont need a gap closer I'd rather have Minor Heroism)
OH yeah how do you stamplars solve the minor mobility issue?

I honestly think heavy is better for a stamplar. Wearing heavy lets you have enough magicka sustain for purifying without running the other morph of rune. It will also let you get away with kiting less, fighting 3 people without adequate los is doable and you dont have to rely on bleeds. Also using meditate is a good idea, you can have 1000 stam recovery and have more than enough sustain with meditate and repentance.

If you want to use s&b I say go heavy and use reverb instead of dizzy. If you want to use dual weild go medium and use all axes.

    Just one opinion

I run 6 medium 1 heavy DW / 2H and love it. Not easy to play at all open world but it puts out tons of pressure. With stamplar your offense is also your defense as intense pressure forces your opponent to heal up or disengage from the fight. Also take advantage of the fact that the class has crit damage built into it. Be sure to allocate cp to that affect and have access to minor force on your bar. You want to amp up crit damage as much as possible.

When trying out a new class you are better off starting with more sustain and survivability and gradually add damage to your build as you get more comfortable. I started my stamplar on heavy and then shifted to medium once I became familiar with the class.

Started reading this and then realized it was from a year ago. Some things have changed. We lost vitality and uptime on minor protection outside of being aggressive, and speed pots along with snare/root immunity nerfed. In exchange, we have a little more sustain from our focus now returning stamina.

I had preferred medium myself until the past couple of weeks where server performance has been absolutely awful. Now I run heavy 5-1-1, make sure I have crit resist over 3k (in CP), dual wield and 2h, all axes. I run the blade cloak morph for short bursts of speed and evasion is super helpful right now and more so than a shield IMO and for what it doesn't, you still have dodge roll. Still forward momentum for root/snare immunity even with extended ritual as roots and snares are low purge priority and can be reapplied instantly, and a lot of what you run into in Cyrodiil is groups with people spamming one thing or another.

If you wanted to run bow, you would use your roll for short bursts of speed. You could also run the steed mundus if you really wanted. Synergizes well with Troll King. I like Bloodspawn mysef and I backbar empowering sweeps which was to help with medium to provide tankiness when needed between DBOS and I have had good uptime with it, but it got to be a problem when it would take 3 to 5 seconds to get anything to fire and you really dont have that in medium when a zerg comes around a corner.
