Benefit of staying subscribed?

There was a loyalty program at one point apparently, but it seems it was discontinued when One Tamriel came out.

Just seems like an easy thing to add to encourage people to keep active accounts.
"Never go in, miss. Never say a prayer at its door. If you are angry, do not seek revenge by the Laughing Maiden Stone, or at the threshold of the Tombs. There be those who listen for oaths and vows...What may be said in innocence and ire becomes flesh and blood in such places."

I wouldn’t be against a loyalty program. Would be nice to get a mail, with something worthwhile attached to it, for every 12 months you’ve subbed or something.
Doesn’t need to be fancy, it could be just a minor costume piece (hats, facial accessories, hairstyles, etc) that can only be gotten through loyalty rewards.

I wouldn’t even mind if the reward was just fish. It’s still something.

I will likely never get one/much as I only subscribe cherry picked months. But I think some sort of unique fun non game breaking (so basically cosmetic) loyalty rewards (retroactive too) for certain moments for months after One Tamriel (like one for each 3 months or whatever) is a nice bonus and thank you gesture.

I got the impression at The Transition that they did not want to do loyalty rewards because the process was all, or partially, manual and cost them money. Automating the process is the obvious answer, but that would cost them money, too.

I agree, some kind of loyalty reward after being subscribed for 3, 6 or 12 months would be nice :)

Like these free crown crates once in a while, I really appreciate them, because otherwise I don't buy CC. Something similar but for subscribers after a regular renewal.

It keeps being brought up in the ESO+ membership suggestions thread to bring back a loyalty program.

You get more things than what people always remember. the crowns and craft bag are easy to remember.

    Access to the DLC's.
    Crafting bag
    Double Bank space
10% increase to Gold, Exp, Inspiration and Trait Research
Double Furniture and Collectable space in each house.
Double Transmutation Crystal cap (still not high enough)
and Costume dyeing (but now discount or benefit so far in the new Outfitter system announced)

Access to DLC's is really only significant for those of us who didn't buy the DLC's before deciding to subscribe. ;) But yeah, the other benefits are nice.

Still, I wouldn't mind a loyalty program at all. Would probably keep me from cancelling my sub when I lose interest in 4-6 months, as I am sure to do. If there were a loyalty program, I'd leave the sub going even while not playing, because I know I'll probably come back to the game in another 6-8 months after that, and it would be nice to have a pet or something waiting for me. But without a loyalty program there's no reason to pay money for benefits I'm not using during a break like that.

Back when the loyalty program was active, those were the only "rewards" we got aside from the game itself - subscribing was mandatory, everyone was subscribed just to be able to play.

Today the game is free, so the old loyalty rewards are replaced by everyday perks the subscription gives us: crafting bag, storage space, XP boosts etc. Also occasional free crown crates and 1500 monthly crowns to buy whatever we want.

While I miss the old loyalty system, I have to honestly admit that the new perks are far more valuable. The crafting bag alone is a game-changer, but you also don't want to lock up your bank when the space is suddenly cut in half, lose the convenience of dying your costumes etc. I think all the great things we get now are more than enough to keep people subscribed.

A benefit of loyalty programs is that it can keep people subscribed even if they plan to take a month or two away from the game.

So I agree the benefits of being subbed are amazing while you are playing the game, but from the game seller perspective the loyalty program is a chance to keep people paying even if they aren't planning on playing in the near future.

I maintain an Eve online account just for the sake of keeping my training going even though I am taking a couple months off the game. Something similar for ESO could help keep money coming in.

This is why they should do a loyalty program, and make sure people know about it. Sure, some people will scoff at it, but others will stay subscribed, even when not playing, just because they don't want to miss the loyalty reward.

For every regular player (playing several times a week) there is without doubt no better way to enjoy ESO (or every other mmo) than with a monthly subscription. As a regular you basically safe money (crowns+access to all dlcs), get nice benefits (crafting bag) and you can simply log in and enjoy the game without further thought of having to buy sth. For me that is quality of life. I am a subscriber since launch and never regretted it. I actually believe MMOs would still be in a better place (without all the microtransaction *** that comes with free to play) if the majority of people were still up for paying 10 bucks a month for unlimited hours of entertainment without additional paywalls. I mean cmon a single Budweiser in a restaurant is 8-9 dollars in the states... But what is entertainment worth nowadays... :|

agreed. quality of MMO's has gone down in general since the mandatory sub model has been in decline. I dont even see the big deal, 10-15 a month is totally a fair price to pay for something which yields as much leisure-time as an MMO. And the fact that you dont havhe to spend real life money to earn apperance altering effects, mounts etc more than makes up for the 15/month.

What else can you spend $15 on and have fun with all month? Good luck going to the movies more than once (and for $15 you're not popcorn or soda), let alone doing anything that's actually costly.

People were afraid of missing out on loyalty rewards. Non-subscribers because there was no way to get them. Subscribers because of the limited-time nature of them (unless they kept the same rewards for every X months).

That would be absolutely no barrier for ZOS and Bethesda today. None at all. If this worried them, Limited Time Offers in the Crown Store would not exist.

I am thinking that there are two reasons why they have not re-introduced loyalty rewards since Tamriel Unlimited. First, it is work, so if they do it they need to have a reason. Second, there isn't a reason. People are subscribing, and staying subscribed, in numbers that meet or exceed goals and expectations.

When there is a reason such that the benefit exceeds the cost, they might consider it. Chances are they will just add an ESO Plus perk, like half price on Outfit dyes.

I've only been playing just over a year and a half. I kind of think of the free crown crate events for subbers as a bit of a loyalty program. I've never bought a crate because I will never buy something if I don't know exactly what it is, but I do appreciate the numerous free crates from being a subber.

You basically have 3 camps of people in mmos:

    1) Those that want everything for free. They dont believe they should have to pay for anything and its just an honor to have them play your game.

    2) Those that prefer a sub model, in which you pay a mandatory fee and everyone in the game has the exact same benefits.

    3) Those that are P2W. They dont mind dropping well over a hundred dollars a month on microtransactions to get and keep an edge. In some cases, they will spend over $10k a year on a single video game in order to stay on top.

I prefer to pay for something once a month and be done with it. No gimmicks, no sales, no F2P, no microtransactions. $15 a month is a trivial amount of money. IF you cant afford to spend $15 a month on unlimited amount of entertainment, you shouldnt be playing anyway, you should be sorting out your financial situation because its not very healthy.

Movie Rentals are $0.99-$4.99 on iTunes, barely more expensive through Comcast and other Cable Companies. Stay in and rent. It's not hard, and it's significantly more comfortable and time-efficient. Especially when it's below freezing outside an the movie theaters can be quite dingy/stinky at times.

I avoid having to buy their $5 bottled waters every chance I get.

When people go to the movie theatre, it's mostly as a social outing. Many people go to Starbucks, out to dinner, etc. for the same reason. The food and the movie isn't the only reason they're there, so comparing prices directly is intellectually dishonest.

Talking to randoms on the internet is not worth nearly as much as hanging out with IRL friends. Sorry. I'd do the movies one extra time per month over paying for ESO+ anytime. I get more out of it, and it have a much more positive impact on my life.

You people care way to [snip] much about these video games. It's a game. Some people actually know how to organize/set priorities.

We already have a lot of other subscriptions. Netflix. Amazon. Adobe. Office 365. Music Streaming Services. PSPlus/XBLive. Being able to spend some cash on something physical, and go out and enjoy some time with their RL friends or family is very important to a lot of people. Time is precious, especially with how much some people work. It's a big deal. It's not something that can be brushed off so easily.

It has nothing to do with Dinner, Coffee, or Movie Tickets.

£8.99 (what I pay in British pounds for ESO sub) is still reasonable for an MMO that you can play as much or as little as you like, and I don't have to buy the DLC's either, plus I can go see the occasional movie at the cinema. Best of both worlds.

In comparison I pay Netflix £8.99 (and watch it maybe five times a month), £7.99 for Amazon Prime (don't watch any of their shows or movies, but I do use the free delivery). £7.99 on NowTV (which is like Netflix, but is my go-to for shows like GoT and The Walking Dead). Out of those, ESO is better value for money since I play the game every day.
