Hybrid suggestions. Converting damage.

I like playing around with different builds but feel like good hybrid sets and skills are lacking, so one solution would be damage conversion.

Let's say you want to play a Bow wielding Magicka sorcerer. The problem with this setup is that stat's and pools are divided, so you can never be really good at either. Your bow will use weapon damage and weapon crit and stamina, and your spells will use spell damage and spell crit, magicka. One way to make hybrid a bit more viable would be to be able to convert damage types.

To convert damage you could use either a skill, or a maybe some set bonus.

Physical damage could be converted to either, flame, shock, ice or magic, and use the spell crit and spell damage, scales of magicka instead but still use the main stamina pool for activation cost.

Magic and elemental damage could be converted to Physical/bleed, Poison, Disease, and use weapon damage, and weapon crit, scales off stamina but use magicka as the main pool for activation cost.

Some examples:
With the appropriate set or conversion skill:

For DK DW hybrid.
Skills like twin slashes, all your outgoing damage could be converted to fire and burning instead of physical and bleed.

For A Hybrid Necromancer type staff wielder.
Skills like Elemental blockade could be converted to deal Physical/Bleed, disease or poison damage.

Imagine having a Staff skills causing disease damage, 2hander doing shock damage, Axes skills doing burn damage and so on.. You would not be forced to limit yourself to either stamina or magicka abilities as they could be converted.

Conversion of damage would open up so many more possibilities without having to sacrifice that much damage output with from lower stat pools, and champion points spread across too many trees. You could focus on a certain type of damage no matter if you wanted to play with staff, swords, or whatever.

Any takers? Or other ideas.?

OR, you could do like everyone else and stack on weapon damage, then add Pelinal's Aptitude (crafted set, buy it or craft it if you have DB, it's in the Gold Coast).

In your example, the bow wielding magicka sorc will wear at least 5 pieces of medium armor, and weapon damage glyphs. Also, your mundus stone will be the Warrior.

Also, make sure to use Critical Surge as well.

As for jewelry and monster set, I'd go with 1 piece velidreth, then any resource buffing 5 piece or a resource buffing 3 piece jewelry set, a domihaus piece or just for with a full 2 pieces monster set, and your personal choice for weapons.

Personally, for my hybrid templar I use agility, robust neck and 2 arcane rings => extra weapon damage and the pieces comes in both arcane and robust.

As for monster set: 1 piece domihaus + 1 piece velidreth (I'm contemplating the option to just go 2 pieces domihaus).

But bow is a bad choice, you want something that allows you to get in, for that juicy hurricane ticks.

    You can thank me later.

To answer your question, no, I think it's a bad idea that would not help a hybrid in any way, just dumb down the process of carefully crafting a build that make you do what you want.

The only place where hybrids are not viable are endgame, min-maxed, hard mode trials, especially if you go for score. Everywhere else you can make a hybrid quite easily.

Is one wants physical damage converted to elemental then I would suggest using an elemental build to start with.

It would be a complicated scheme to create such a conversion making it extremely unlikely Zos would consider it. It comes down to value obtained from the effort not to mention the problems that could come of it. Nothing really wrong with what we have ATM. It all comes down to choices of ones build.

    BTW, this is Pelinal's Aptitude:

It's effectively what you want, yet don't know you wanted it, yet.

This wouldnt be a problem if the dolts at ZOS would decouple resources from damage. There's absolutely no reason stamina should increase weapon damage or magicka should increase spell damage.
