Will The Update 16 Outfit System Require ESO Plus to Dye?

Ebonslayer21
Has this been talked about or mentioned at all? I really like the idea of this system since my endgame armor is something completely different from what I like to wear. Unfortunately, what I like to wear requires dyes to really look good and appeal to me. I really hope it doesn't require ESO Plus as I don't want to buy it (don't ask why or argue about it, I don't have the patience).

It requires in-game gold or Crown Store tokens every time you want to dye (or re-dye) an outfit. ESO+ has no bearing on the Outfit System.

Update 17, and no. It's a standardized gold cost per piece dyed for everyone, depending on the rarity of the style.

The part I couldn’t figure out when I tried it on the pts, is if we can still dye our many sets of armor or if we are now locked into generic armor or costume. It looked like the dye table functions are gone and it’s costume only.

Am I wrong? I like what I already have better than paying for outfit changes. Is my dye table getting an upgrade or is it the old free system for paid system switheroo?

Anyone ever figure out who we are paying and why we can craft anything now but for some reasons there a new cost?

ZOS never responded on their article.

Dye Stations in homes will now function as Outfit Stations. Presumably the only difference between Dye Stations and Outfit Stations will be appearance and cost. Outfit Stations will cost 500 vouchers, Dye Stations will still be 35 vouchers despite having the same functionality.

Applying dyes or new styles to outfit slots costs gold (standard pricing for dyes, anywhere from 500g to 2000g for styles), and this is an unavoidable cost even for ESO+ members. Equipped armor can still be dyed for free, but weapon dyeing is locked behind the outfit system and costs gold.

That's about the gist of the Outfit system. It's been rather poorly implemented. The high gold costs (as much as 25k per full outfit) will make it exceptionally unappealing to a large chunk of players, and it over complicates the Hide Helm feature by removing it from settings. Meaning, it's no longer possible to hide the helms on polymorphs or disguises. No more Xivkyn faces, just the standard (pointless) Xivkyn armor you can have at any time. Prices on Xivkyn polymorph runeboxes is going to crash hard, no more purpose to them when the effect can be achieved for less than 10k gold in the outfit system.

Thank you for clarifying that. I couldn’t get that to work on the pts, but I’ll work it out on the 12th. It’s not my 1st l2p issue.

It's under a different section of the Outfit Station, at least it was as of 3.3.2. There should be a second icon on the upper section of the station's interface, but it's easy to overlook given how cluttered the Outfit system is right now.

However I haven't gotten around to testing the most current update (which I should get to because I do wanna get comfortable with the new dungeons).

At any dye station there is a dropdown over the equipped items, which is set to an outfit, if you have one selected or to default, if you don't. You can change the selection there. If it is set to default/no outfit, you can dye your actual armour free of costs like it is on live now.

But as was mentioned before, it can be easy to overlook.
