Is the original game, PC non-Steam locked to a ESO account even though its installed from ESO directly on my PC in all its 60GB glory? My wife was playing ESO which I bought for the xbox one so I bought it again through Steam and downloaded it so we wouldn't be fighting over the Xbox. Now she wants to join me, but of course can't because platforms are segregated so she decides to start over on the PC, but after tons of troubleshooting because at no time did it ever say anything but username and password are wrong or your account is locked although she could login in everywhere else, the only info I get is reading this forum. Which is not great since the rules apparently have evolved over time as at first I tried running ESO without the Steam launcher but that was changed at some point so I decide she can't play the application I downloaded, 66GB to be exact, and installed on my PC because it was through Steam, so I go and buy AND download a non-Steam PC version. I went and downloaded it directly from ESO and installed it with no Steam involved... and she still cannot login. Literally the only thing that makes sense is because I went to ESO and it was probably logged into my account, I bought a third copy of the game she still cannot play. Between buying this game three times and double overages for blowing through my data caps I have spent so much money and am so frustrated. This is the most customer unfriendly experience I think I've ever gone through.
If anyone from Zenimax can explain what the rules are and how I can get this fixed I will greatly appreciate it because I'm at my wits end.
So my wife not wanting me to be stressed on my birthday went and bought another code and made sure she was logged in with her account and redeemed it. I started to freak out when she had trouble getting, but we realized somehow had a different email than the one she setup for Bethesda online with the xbox then once she finally found the verification email she kept getting stuck in the "Login Queue" and had to repair the launcher (which I had just logged in with 20 mins prior)... but she finally got in. I now own four copies of the game and my only hope is when we inevitably get her her own PC gaming rig she can just download again and play without needing to purchase a fifth copy.
