Make Meteor a Target Area Skill?

Random thought. Was reading people talking about bad ultimates in a PTS thread and thought how Meteor could be different.

Instead of casting it on a single target that follows them until it hits, and when it does players can just block the damage, what if it was changed to a ground target area cast with an increased blast radius? Good for choke points, bridge fights, burning groups of mobs.

Well, Meteor is still a single large hit with a slight DoT in the target area, while the Destro Ult is a pure DoT. Isn't Meteor's DoT much shorter too?

ok but then I dont see much advantage of it compared with elemental rage (except that you could slot and eye of the storm).

I feel it is good to have one single target ultimate and one AOE

cool idea, AoE nuke ability. actually makes a lot of sense.

But ZOS seems to prefer braindead stuff like EOTS instead of balanced ones like standart, so whatever...

It would need to have a larger radius I think, at least for the impact damage.

I'd like that. The game's weird targeting periodically decides I wanted that meteor to land on a bug in the corner instead of the boss I'm clearly trying to kill, but ground targeted abilities never give me those problems.

That said, no doubt there's a significant downside in PVP. Wouldn't know, I'm the negate monkey.

Hmm, in that case I think one morph would have to stay single target and one go placed aoe damage. Could be fun.

Meteor's DoT is 11.2 seconds long. Elemental Rage is 7 seconds long.
