ESO PVP is a Joke < ! >

Now before I start I just wanted to say I really do like ESO for its other aspects of the game. PVE is fantastic and the Dungeons are fun to run through. Crafting is crafting and Housing needs a few fixes like more items to put into housing but other than that the game is solid..... until you hit PVP.

I have read countless articles on pvp and there are way too many people that dont like it. Zenimax doesnt seem to care honestly. The only people that seem to really love PVP are the ones with the higher gear sets and can One shot you EVERY TIME. These are the people that defend pvp on each thread. At least in games like SWO or WoW you can just show up and have a slight chance of success each time.

The issue with PVP in ESO is its not built for PVP in Mind! Every attack is basically automatic with no cooldowns or having to wait small durations like 1 1/2 seconds to shoot a magic spell like every other MMO. So all you have are ppl that get the highest level gear (Usually by purchasing it with RL money) and people that just start get Hit once blasted to death every time they spawn. Now there are a lot of builds you can use but everyone pretty much ends up with the same.

This is a gear driven pvp game and that royally sucks. Look I have played many MMO's since Everquest and have always been really good at PVP. But ESO is just nonsense. Even if someone has more gear than you, at least you should be able to use your skill against them. Nope because they ONE or TWO SHOT YOU!

The map is too long for raiding pvp. The Battleground are so lazily constructed, Run in a circle and capture flags..... You can't even pick the battleground you want, queing for random just stinks all by itself.

I do not see the appeal of PvP, Which is a real deal breaker for me, whenever better gear comes out everyone will run to get it. Didn't need to do that in other MMO's, Honestly it really falls on the combat system itself, I know its made for PC and Console but only 5 /10 buttons which you switch from and all attacks are automatic is ridiculous.

Spam spam spam, have top gear, spam. No skill involved. Its pretty lackluster.

Anyway its just my Opinion if you love it thats nice but after taking years of looking at the comments sections of people tlaking about PvP its obvious for many reasons its broke. This is also a reason many people end up leaving this game, The combat system needs to be fixed, We were originally told this game wouldnt be like it is now, that is would be fair to players. Anyone should be able to come into pvp and have a chance at Fun and succeeding a bit.

I'm sorry but you obviously do not know the game very well. You cannot purchase gear with RL money. ESO is incredibly not gear driven compared to other MMO's. ESO pvp does have problems but clearly your issue is inexperience.

    Absolutely this.

Best gear doesnt win dude. Setup is important however I.e. Traits CP etc. If you are getting one shot it sounds like you are just not setup right.

Post your build, your setup, let people help. Odds are you are missing something vital like Impen.

Are you in the right campaign? Kyne is for beginners, Sotha Sol has better game play and is more forgiving if you are low CP.

The moaning on here is from PvPers wanting PvP improved, but they still play it as its better than most others (or they would leave) wanting to better something is different to saying its crap.

It's not fir everyone, but your rant appears misdirected and curled with inexperience as I felt frustrated too at the start. But used it to fuel learning

It sounds like you just need to spend some time learning mechanics, systems and how PvP in ESO works.

As others have said ESO does have its problems in PvP but most of what you've said isn't the case once you understand what's happening, how abilities work and what you can do to stop them.

If you're having issues with players of higher levels you can choose No CP campaigns and as soon as you're C160 you'll be on the same playing field as everyone else gear and stat wise.

I agree with the OP to an extent. I wish skills had cooldowns. Its super annoying when people just spam single attacks... i.e. dizzy swing, jabs, birds, snipe, surprise attack... proc sets... Eye of the storm... soul assault. Are their counters? Yeah some. But no cooldown and insta-burst to death is the dumbest pvp concept ever.....

I can agree on certain points.

The actually battle and counterplay is less significant than the class, level and gear. In an actual fight one could play flawlessly and still lose to a sloppy player bcz they are running the fotm build.

Ball groups where the sum of its parts does not equal the whole. Guys whose sole purpose is to spam 1 skill (like rapids) and wear armor sets that make these groups unkillable. Not because these guys practice great counterplay and strategy but bcz of what the wear.

Potions that break counterplay like unstoppable, or poisons.

    major class imbalance.

This miiiight be a L2P issue.

And by that I mean it absolutely is.

Plenty of people are successful in less-than-ideal gearings and wearing armor that hasn't been upgraded to gold. Heck, last night one of my friends realized he'd been playing with a random blue necklace from a dungeon rather than his 5th piece of seventh legion. He did okay despite that, because he isn't a potato rolling around on a keyboard.

    - ESO combat doesn't have cooldowns, it have resource management. If you spam abilities blindly, you will run out of resources. This allows a fast-pace combat that is really engaging.
    - There is no gear to buy with RL money. All the gear of the game comes from killing stuff or crafting, is probably one of the easiest MMO's in the market for gear up.
    - You don't get blasted in one hit if you know how to play. In fact, sometimes fights are too long and never end because both players are geared towards survival and can't kill each other
    - There are plethora of effective builds, for different roles and situations. Some classes are more flexible than others in terms of builds, but you are not forced to run the same than everyone, no if you understand the game enough to make your own builds.

You just need to learn how to PvP, the learning curve is not easy, it will take you months to be somewhat decent on PvP, specially if you run solo.

We all know the real competitive play in eso is for top score in trials. Pvp is all fluff with no game breaking awards for winning or being emperor.

Just remind yourself that AP is easy to get, killng people is fun and rerolling a new character only takes a month.

Hell i just made a character that is a tank healplar thats sole purpose is to quickly drop praticed incarnation as many times in battle as possible. Funny thing is i make far more AP on that character than i do on my magblade bomber.

I only pvp less than 15hours a week yet i cracked top 100 for my alliance with this character while playing solo.

The entire point is its just a game. There are other games out there if your really looking for a good competitive pvp expierence.

    Is this a troll post?

I've been PvPing for 4 years now since the Launch, I can't one shot anyone either, even with my stamblade ganker (unless the person is level 10 but you don't tend to see those in Vivec)....... the problem is likely inexperience, and the only way to get the experience is to keep at it.... but honestly if I had a dollar the number of times I've died in Cyrodil over the years....... I'd own ZOS by now.

I disagree.... the Ultimates do have a cooldown... its called gathering enough ultimate to use the ability again. The other skills also have a cooldown, but its based on your amount of magicka or stamina you have in your pool. Your only spamming an ability so long before you have to regen your pool.

There are counters... they are called shields.... you survive the insta-burst with your mitigation and shields, drain your opponent of resouces using roots and snares, people tend to go down pretty quickly.

I'm not saying that PvP doesn't have its problems, I'm just saying they aren't as bad as the OP is saying/

Just because it is different does not mean it is bad. Of course, that doesn't mean it is good either, but it seems you have al ack of knowledge on how the game works. Cooldowns were not implemented in favor of resource management. You have a finite amount of resources with which to cast any skill you like. Some skills cost more. Some cost less. Some do other stuff.
But it's on you to make sure you don't run out. Furthermore, resource management battles tend to be something new/inexperienced players tend to miss...ahem. You might want to dig into the game a bit more before making your judgement.

Gear is easy to acquire, even for new players. Again, your stance on all this heavily indicates you are lacking a great deal of experience. As for gear, how else would you suggest people customize builds? Progress? Etc. Even gear can be pretty easy to acquire, and even MORE easy to get good traits now with that new system thingy they put in. If you get two shot, that is 100%
your fault - you didn't build correctly, don't know how to react, or a combination of both. This really seems to be a case of 'I was good in other games but forgot what it took to get that good'. Or you were carried by builds in those other games *shrug*
In the grand scheme of things, ESO is just another MMO. You're not suddenly bad at it because OMG something is horribly wrong. It's you.

The map is too long for raiding pvp. The Battleground are so lazily constructed, Run in a circle and capture flags..... You can't even pick the battleground you want, queing for random just stinks all by itself.

    Eh...Pretty much.

I have always been under the impression that the appeal of pvp is the challenge, but that's just me. It's not ZOS job to make your life choices for you, such as 'what do I enjoy doing', etc. You're really...lacking in description here, and so this posts comes across as whiny. Mostly. There is one point I agree with about BGs - wish we could pick.

So what would it take for pvp to appeal to you?

TLDR This one is on you. Please ask for help before deciding that you couldn't possibly have done something wrong. You would get much better responses if you posted your build, skills, level, CP, CP distribution, etc in this forum instead of whatever it was you did up there. ESO pvp has problems, but almost everything you listed is just a result of your lack of experience.

I've been playing this game just because of PVP for more than a year. I've only recently became capable to run effectively stamblade or stamplar in medium. Yet I'm still far from the best, I'm loosing 50% against a capable player. I bought some DLC but I've been ESO+ member for 2 months for only to make a master crafter, then I'll quit and play PVP for no cost (other than more DLCs that I'm gonna buy for sure).

PVP esp Cyro has its issues though. It's a dated horse simulator with lame objectives. But if there is combat going and it's not about balls it's usually fine. IC is great again because of the upcoming storage system. Battlegrounds is my favourite, I love that game as is, in pug mode it is hard af, but you will learn a lot in every single match. I hope they not *** up and the rewards will worth it in the next patch because its unfortunately a money sink atm as a pug.

TL;DR: pvp is great, l2p then you will enjoy it for sure
