Hello, ESO community,

I have some questions that I hope can be answered here concerning DOF. If it's posted in the wrong place please let me know.

I personally like the DOF effect I can get with reshade. If you are thinking about getting it yourself here are a couple issues you might find.

The known issues with DOF using reshade is blurry UI, flickering display depth, and unfunctional UI. The game is unplayable with Reshade's DOF while having the UI up. You should be hiding the UI in the settings while using reshade's DOF. When the UI becomes visible again from unhiding it, you can no longer interact with it which doesn't always happen.

1. What causes the display depth to flicker and not always work? How can we fix this issue? This is something that worked fine before, something changed to keep it from functioning properly.

2. Is there a fix for the blurry UI?

3. How can we keep the UI from being unfunctional after unhiding it?

Elder Scrolls Online built in DOF is great. Everything functions as it should. My question here would be directed to ESO devs. Can you reveal the DOF settings so we can tweak it? I like how it looks when in conversations etc. This is something I want while playing in PVE. It gives the game a great cinematic that I personally enjoy.

Thank you for your responses. I realize this is very subjective and it's not for everyone. Any help I can get would be greatly appreciated.

for me it's press F10 I disable some effects, you should check out on the reshade menu it happened to me mostly when inventory was open or at stations (interface interfered)

as for the others I can't help you since Im not using much of it, I disabled it I think the Preset I have had no issues with 2).

If you have an Nvidia card just use the newest beta Filter feature. Literally replaces reshade in every possible way and can be adjusted on the fly.

Do they have the depth of field setting?

I tried the Nvidia suggestions and it did not work for depth of field etc. What I did notice is Nvidia was rendering the game at a larger scale then resizing it to native resolution which caused reshader DOF to flicker. DOF does work now with reshader consistently without popping and it looks amazing. The only remaining issue is blurry ui. Besides that the game looks stunning with the changes.

You need to configure UIMask by going to your textures folder (\game\client\reshade-shaders\Textures) and editing the UIMask.png. You essentially need to get in a situation where you have everything you want to exclude from the DOF on screen, take a screen shot, then use gimp/photoshop to draw a black shape over the elements and blur the edges to your own taste. Making sure it is a fresh layer with a white background exported in your native resolution, you can then activate the filter and configure from there. I didn't have much luck with reshade 3 but it worked well in 2.2, depth of field outside of screen shots is a pretty ugly business, I honestly think the in game version is a better option for gameplay.
