Bare with me...ok don't that would be inappropriate. So i notice some people have stupid amount of CP like 900 plus while others complain about getting 30 or so extra for the next round of upgrades and then its pointless to keep playing until the next upgrade cycle. It would be better to keep vet players than to have them get their entertainment elsewhere.

Then you have this level up rewards things some are not to happy about because new characters get free stuff and they have been playing since dinosaurs roamed Tamriel and thus should get free stuff too. The big issue with MMOs is we can blow through content far faster than it can be developed leaving us sitting around waiting for the next installment.

What if there was a little more incentive to keep playing while you wait for that next installment? With all this in mind, i give you the Veteran Store. The Veteran Store uses a new currency that is obtained by trading in CP. You simply select the amount of points you want to convert and convert into a spendable currency. This currency is then used to purchase things , some of which are only available in the vet store. This can include:

* Costumes
* Non Combat Pets
* Mounts
* A Container Vacuum- A non combat pet that auto loots all containers within a 20 M radius of you that you have line of sight too. Does not loot locked chests or containers that are owned( stolen goods). Maybe a Dwemer mechanical pet. Yes now you can do your shopping for dinner while saving the world from High Kinlord Rilis!
* A couple of exclusive houses appropriate for someone of your stature.
* Motifs, Patterns, Blueprints, etc.
* Furnishings exclusive to veterans.
* Recipes
* Riding upgrades( in addition to what is available for crowns/gold)
* Bank and inventory space ( in addition to what is available for crowns/gold)
* Vet only housing storage options.
* Housing space upgrades.
* You could even have your own version of crown crates.
* And more

The Sky is the limit! Now you dont have to wait until 2020 for the game to catch up to you. Enjoy the fruits of your labor, TODAY!

    Optionally consumable. Lets say you have 750 CP but need 720 for the next update. You still play and gain CP. Instead of those extra CP sitting around waiting for them to expand CP, you can use it in a store that is exclusive to vet players. So you could convert 30 CP out of your max CP into vet store currency and spend it on whatever while still having 720 cp for the next update.

    Some people view ESO as a job and CP as a promotion for hours of labor put in. They want more power levels to separate themselves from casuals. Even though once you hit CP 160 you can pretty much blow through everything overland with prisoners and darkstride spamming your aoe magic ability, and CP is really only relevant in cyrodiil and trials, they want more power levels. Introducing a new system in parallel with or enhancing the current system to keep it interesting with CP as a commodity seems a good idea. I think players want power levels though for their CP in one form or another.

    ^ you are right. In the BattleGround debates the hand full of people that prefer CPs main argument was around keeping their progression. It's bizarre, its like my fighting in a better paced match that suits the matches is less important than by feeling important because they had clocked up some virtual points by playing longer and deserve to be stronger than others.

    Unsure they will like this idea, but see what you are trying to do as an option

    One of things i "kind of" like about ESO, is that their isnt a huge leap in progression. WOW is notorious for that and its one of the many things that turned me off it. Level 51 green gear was magnitudes superior to even level 50 purple raid gear. This meant that all previous content became instant easy mode, solo.

    But that is a double edge sword as they seem to went the other extreme with ESO. Progression in ESO is so tiny, it feels like your treading water, not swimming. I mean gear levels down instead of you leveling up. If you are wearing gear even two levels old you get a penalty to it.

    Then we have the whole CP system. I mean come on their are basically 690 levels, but very little progression. To add insult to injury and further belittle your progression, once that first character hits CP, he basically levels all other characters. As soon as you have one that hits 690 all characters just have the trivial task of gaining those first 50 levels. But they do so with everything all those CP gives them, again easy mode.

    Their really is no level progression in ESO. The only real distinction is the ability to do certain things like trials and vet dungeons. Even gear only goes CP 160. So you have about 500 CP levels that is basically just polishing.

    It would be nice, to have at least something to look forward end game. Because this game doesnt have an endgame. By time you reach 690 you pretty much already did everything meaningful. So their is no reason to keep going to collect CP that is going to take months at minimum you can use and in some cases years.

    That is why i thought of the vet store. A reason to keep playing and gain CP. It can be updated with new stuff every so often and it wont be as hard to balance into the game as new content nor take as long to develop or even update between patches. It would give vets a sense of accomplishment because the store would only be accessible with CP. We could even make it interesting and make it that you have to burn your CP "maxing out" before you can spend extra in the store. When a new max CP is added to the game you have to put points in that before you can spend it in the store.

    That way you have an achievement that is meaningful for being at endgame content.

    I have a sneaking suspicion that in, oh, a couple of years' time, we shall see another reform of the leveling system and general power levels. If nothing else, because by that point the CP cap will be pushing into the 900s (assuming a regular quarterly increase of 30), which is a big gap vs. both overland and where the "average player" is likely to be. [Not to mention that because of a limited number of "useful" CP nodes and diminishing returns, after a certain threshold every extra 100 CPs won't actually get you much, so where is the sense of progression?]

    Until then, I doubt they'd change anything - and when they make the change, well...it is very difficult to speculate so far ahead of time, isn't it.

    One thing I would support is - no, not exactly what OP is suggesting, but rather throw the high-CP players a bone in the form of an extra achievement (say, for reaching 1000 CPs), or a couple of titles (again, for reaching various ultra-high CP levels). In other words, something like the fishing achievement/dye, it's not really very much of a tangible reward for investing dozens of hours into fishing, but it is a reward for people to look forward to.

    Even having 1000+ cp, I'd prefer cp to be removed at all. Make max level easy and flat, like 100 levels and balance the game around it. CPs give fake feeling of progression, for example my dps in early 2016 was 25-30, my dps now is.... 25-30. And there's huge cp difference between 2016 and 2018.
    Also knowing how many problems cp make everywhere, and even BGs are no cp again.. Can also imagine the pain of new players who are told that max level here is basically 690. So yes, just remove them from the game, no need to invent ways of spending extra points.

    How high impact will an cp cap of 900 be assuming no changes?

    I thought of this a while ago. I think ZOS should institute a CP buyback program and then remove the entire system. That way people are payed for all their hard work and then CP can stop destroying the game via powercreep.

    But then you have people who have zero amount of vanity like me that dont care about things like achievements, costumes, and pretty houses. I look at everything as effort vs reward. Its how i work and how i play. And getting a random achievement because i made 1000 cp has no interest for me. And when i lose interest in a game, i move on. Now that may not seem like a big deal, but i dont typically play any game for free. If it has micro transactions or an optional sub im spending money.So if i leave, they are definitely losing revenue.

    I like MMOs and i like the ES series but im not a huge fan of how they combined them. There are some pros but the cons of this "reinvented wheel" system outweigh them.

    Ideally, I would like to see them switch CP back to levels and make all current CP levels 51-100. Then go to a more traditional system after level 100. New zones, raise level cap. Meaningful gear. Mobs that have a level and stay that level, etc.

    Then for levels 1-100 you can do the " level anywhere system" and then for level 101+ it switches more to a proven tried and true method of leveling.

    No. It just switches to a useless grind for gear every patch. As much as it's annoying with the CP endlessness, the One Tamriel system where the gear cap does not change and the mobs are not leveled is a lot better than the "tried and true" method.

    Y'know hacked accounts are a thing? Say if this was a thing and someone managed to log into someone else's account and character, and then spent ALL of their Champion Points effectively reducing them to a blank slate Level 50.

    As opposed to a grind for nothing? Like someone said in another post. You can be CP160 and its not a lot different than level 30. I always found you have people that " must grind" to get the latest and greatest all the time. Just like, even in ESO, you have people that blow through all the content , skip most of what they can as "pointless" get to the "end game" and then complain there is nothing to do.

    Grinding for gear is only a grind, if you make it one. And it tends to be competitive people who feel the need to grind up as fast as possible to get the latest gear as fast as possible. I see that as a personal issue, not one with a game. No one says a person has to grind for raid level gear. Its a choice you make. You can choose not to do it and many dont.

    But the current system basically makes leveling or progression pointless so that those that are overly competitive dont feel the need to "grind" to be better than everyone else. So their is very little sense of accomplishment in this game since your character does not evolve much during the entire game.
    ArchMikem wrote: »

    Im not going to touch hacking, because that happens in every game and its pointless to say "what if my account is hacked" If your account is hacked its either ZOS fault and they should reimburse you or its your fault and you should learn from it.

    But to answer your question, yes. Whatever max CP level is at the time you have to achieve that before you can spend extra points. So you cant just hit 160 and then decide you just want to dump CP into buying stuff. You have to earn being able to use the vet store by maxing out every time the cap is raised and spend any excess you have after that.
