Any good vMA MagSorc builds out there?

Looking for a good MagSorc vMA Build if anyone can help? I’m currently running 5 Necro, 3 Willpower, 2 Infernal Guardian, with random Fire Destro Front Bar and lightning back bar. I’m looking for a build that will help me clear the content easier and help me get my first vMA clear, then farm it later.

Thanks for any advice!

Look the other mag sorc thread under recent posts. Lots of solid info there already. It's titled with netch set for non pet build or similar.

I cleared vMA this weekend using alcast's pet build with gear setup 2. I did have to switch things up for stage 9 because I was having difficulty with sustain. For stage 9 I used 2 Llambris with Seducer and Mother's Sorrow, moved my fire staff to weapon slot 2 for more dmg and added Bound Aegis for extra resistance. Not sure if that helped over the normal build or if I just got better/lucky.

I probably spent a good 20 hours to clear it and I am not all that confident and willing trying again... maybe some day.

You can easily clear the arena with that setup, but you need to focus on the mechanics. I would recommend using more heavy attacks and slotting two shields when you are attempting it the first time.

I’ve only beat it twice on petSorc, but build is about same as yours but with IA instead of willpower. Though I see nothing wrong with willpower. Also switch between Illambris or infernal guardian. They’re both pretty good in there. If you can go 5 1 1 it’s a little better.

Use sigils. Learn when to drop ultimates. Remember to use potions etc. once you beat it first, it’s a lot quicker to do it again and farm what you need.

My 1st attempt was this Friday. I beat it 6 times now. I'm Still very inexperienced and make lots of mistakes so my build leans toward surviving.

    5 necro 4juli 2 ilambris.
    Recovery on Rings
    Magicka Recovery Enchant on weapons
    Atronach Mundus
    Witch's Mother for Magicka recovery.

Front Bar| Crushing Shock, Liquid Lightening, Blockade, Shield, Scamp, Elemental Rage

Back Bar| Boundless Storm, Clench, Scamp, Power Surge, Ball of Lightening, Meateor

Prob not for everyone. But it gets the job done for me.
I'm clearing in about 90 minutes now.

Take VAMPIRE level down to 1 also. This helped me a lot.

5xnecro, 5xacuity, 1xilambris or domihaus, double infused shock, shock enchant main and flame enchant back or damage health poison back with nirnhoned.

    Main(shock): Daedric prey-twilight matriarch-ward-volatile familiar-inner light-destro ulti.
    Back(shock): Liquid lightning-twilight matriarch-blockade-familiar-critical surge-shooting star.

Two healing sources, shield, zero sustain issues due to heavy attack as spammable, the burst is very good since there is intervals between adds and boss spawns for the acuity set process. If you have a sustain issue replace shooting star with overload for a 3rd bar and slot dark conversion.

Lukas, is that you? It's @Oblivionia in game PC NA

Also yeah, if it's the same guy, he also owned VMA at 299cp so- I'd pay heed to the above if I were you (and you don't clear already) ;-)

Just want to throw this into the lot:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cafavdcH7po

It is a one-bar pet sorc build with a complete vma run. It works as shown in the video, but there is one thing that everyone can attest to is -- VMA takes practice and knowledge of mechanics and where things spawn. I understand there might be some rng mixed in as well.

    Best of luck to you!

edited to say: The build is at the beginning of the video.

Hardening enchant + iceheart + double shield + Mother's sorrow. You'll pretty much only die to mechanics with that set up. Switch to a higher dps set up once you know the mechanics.

I finished my first vMA run the other day. I went through most of it with 4 Moondancer, 5 Necropotence and 2 Skoria. Also did some experimental rounds in stage 9 with 2 Bloodspawn for more ult and some extra damage mitigation. But ultimately decided on the Skoria set for the final boss. It was a Dunmer MagSorc so the fire damage from Skoria was fine. You can also run Julianos if you don't have Moondancer.

I had issues sustaining on stage 9 due to popping my shield constantly as there is a ton of damage from Crem Guards. I usually popped my ult on them to nuke them asap.

When I died, it was usually because I was out of magicka, and pots were on cooldown, so no shield.

I ran most of vMA with the Twilight pet for heals but decided to drop it in stage 9 for Power Surge for the constant heal over time and made sustaining easier.

I tried running trifood but settled on returning to Witchmother's for more regen. I made a ton of tri potions though to return health and stam as well as magicka, because there is a lot of blocking and dodgerolling in stage 9.

I also tried Seducers + Necropotence and 1 piece Monster set with Magicka but even though I never ran out of magicka, it took too long to kill anything so I dropped it. I returned to using Moondancer and Skoria.

My sweet spot was using jewelry with magicka regen instead of my spell damage glyphs. I just bought cheap blue Necropotence jewelry from guild stores so I didn't have to do over my gold spell damage glyphs on the purple jewels. It gave me about 1800 recovery and that was good enough and still had enough damage.

Stage 5 and Stage 9 were definitely the hardest and took me the longest. Despite hearing Stage 7 being bad, I didn't find it too bad. Yeah sometimes there was bad RNG, like a poison AOE spawning inside the shield, so my choice was to die to the poison or die to the Argonian's roar, but ultimately that fight didn't take too long (maybe an hour for that whole stage total.)

The frustration was worth it as I got the vMA bow :)
