I'm not a software/hardware/whateverware programmer, but I cannot see how this would be possible?

Please correct me if I am being ignorant.

It's possible bevause there is a back end data sheet on your character. But it's not worth the trouble I'm sure

It isn't a software/hardware/whatever programmer problem to solve.

It is a business problem, and it isn't even up to ZOS/Bethesda to decide.

No, that's the way a game like FF14 is structured. There, your data are stored at a regional data center, and that data center determines both your bound world (server) and the worlds (servers) you are able to pay to transfer to.

If ZOS had some sort of mega data center, it might be possible to jump servers. But the way things are designed now, to even update PTS with Live copies they have to completely wipe the PTS server first.

Despite what Firor has said (quote below), it really is a technical issue even if the business climate changes.

Lately there’s been a trend of bringing online communities together through cross-play. Is that something you’re evaluating for Elder Scrolls Online?

"That is not a technical issue, it’s a business issue. We’re on different platforms and each partner has its own ideas on which groups they want their players to be with. It’s easier for everyone if they’re just in separate communities, that’s just the way it is for now."
