Why people hate cleanse-able skill too much(pvp)

Whenever a dot is mentioned, people call them useless because they tick few times and get cleansed. But templar is one of 5 classes and stam templar have limited cleanses. Why people complain so much about skills that useless againts %20 of population?

Example:

A: is AS dual wield good?
B: no, who cares if you got 10 more seconds on dots if they gonna cleanse it after 3 seconds.

Templars cleanse their group too. Magdens can cleanse for free. Nightblades can suppress dots while in cloak. 3/5 classes have easy tools for dealing with dots.

Furthermore, a 1k per second dot seems lackluster when you eat a 5k surprise attack, 9k incap, then an execute.

    Pvp is all about burst.

It's also quite easy to heal through dots.

I think the biggest problem about why dots are so ineffective is because we have a system that rewards players for damage and attribute stacking, which means the more damage you do, the stronger your heals are.

It just doesn't make sense to me that the hardest hitting players can also heal themselves incredibly well. If healing was tied into the same measurements that damage is, then dots would be a bit more dangerous because they wouldn't be so easy to live through.

Dots are only good if you can stack enough of them, and can successfully deal without them being purged to heck, which is why stamsorc does it well, hurricane can't be purged and can be kept up well and successfully with some extra strengths, like revealing cloakblades, so the other dots can tick.

I have yet to hear this argument. There are some pretty strong dots in this game. The only two complaints I see often in this game is players not liking dots, or any negative effect, because they do not want to bother with cleansing and of course some complain because they are challenged to kill a Templar because they can cleanse and actually take the time to cleans.

In both cases it has to do with the build of both players. One is better than the other though the weaker build could be improved and do well.

well is only strong against a class whos majority of its dmg come from dots when the dk sped more magicka to get them on you with 5 global cooldowns and all your work is gone in 1 seconds and most of your dmg is gone.
    DC PC NA
    Magdk - main
    Stamcro - alt

AD PS4 NA -retired (PC runs way better to play on console)

DoTs are ridiculously powerful in pvp. Extending their duration, however, is not overly important. Most classes have a burst window of ~4-8 seconds during which they can line up damage as part of a damage stacking mechanic. Setting up your DoTs is done just before the burst window though, therefore eliminating the usefulness of Asylum dw. It will neither improve your burst nor increase your burst window

    Masters DW is incredible though

Duels its good, but its situational. Not so good for multiple targets, burst is more necessary to stop the outheal/no removal. One of the biggest issues with dots is that in themselves they are a bit eh, pressure isn't meta, so whilst you can run without any dots, its much harder to run without any burst, dots are really just secondary damage in most cases. On classes like stamsorc or stamplar it can be used really well, feeding into POTL/Implosion.

On MDK I play burstier, and only go full dot on someone turtling , since its too expensive to fully dot every enemy with the threat of a purge/cloak nullifying my handywork. Its mainly for the other effects, such as embers heal, talons root, spiked resists or a skoria proc.

/agree on mDW. Was looking on getting my hands on one for my dotsorc. The sheer pressure from bleeds ignoring resists combined with implosion and poison injection allows a complete skip on burst. [lack of burst heal issue, maybe offbalance changes for dark deal?] Never done DSA before and no where really takes newbs since they just want a fast weapon clear.

Not even really saying they need a buff, they are just not super strong, but can be used well situationally.
