Well, if you are a Vampire, You should automatically invest in Some Magic Resistance to compensate for added fire damage taken. Stage 1 is the same as not being a Vampire because you don't suffer any negative effects. I say stage 2 because most get Vampirism for the added 10% Magicka/Stamina Passive which doesn't take effect unless you are Stage 2 or Higher and you suffer less fire damage and stunted health Regen than Stage 4...

It's worth having on tanks for extra magicka recovery and damage mitigation under 50% HP. Since most tanks can easily achieve the spell resistance cap, the flame vulnerability doesn't matter much. For DDs is not really worth it since your resistance is low and your base recovery is low as well. For healers is debatable, but if you can stack 27K+ resistance (doable on Breton Templar) it might be worth a shot.

Depends a bit on the trial and your role, but in general I'd say 3 is the best choice. Most trials don't have hard hitting fire damage, so the chance that undead will save your life is higher than the chance that the increased fire damage will kill you.

So vamp stage depends on the trial you are running. Basically in parts of Hel Ra (top) and HoF specifically you will want to be stage 1 do to the risk of being one shot or taking insane damage. Plus those two particularly have a lot of fire damage. However in trials like MoL, SO, and even AA your stage does not really matter as the damage is mainly poison, magic, or lightning.

As they say know your environment! =)

Most trials have little to no fire.

Stage 2 is not a good choice since that gives the biggest boost to receiving in Reese's fire damage.

If your doing vHoF and especially HM ans having issues then just use the drink to reside your vampirism when you get to that fights. It's really that simple. For vAS just shield for the fire.

Honestly, even on a tank, I'm not sure the mitigation buff from Undeath is worth it. It's nice enough in overland content, but when you get into trials, the amount of damage being tossed around means extra resistance at low health is mostly meaningless.

Now, with that said, it's possible there's some stacking effect with Undeath on a tank that I've simply never seen. But, if you're picking your stage, I'd recommend staying at 1 or 2 depending on your situation.

    For vHoF - Stage 1
For all other trials - Stage 3

You don't want stage 2. The 10% regen isn't worth the 15% increased fire damage. If you insist on going to stage 2 you might as well go for stage 3 and also get the undeath passive to make you more survivable at low health.

vAS HM and VHof HM: Stage 2
    Vet Hel Ra: Stage 3
    Everything else is stage 4

    My personal preference

Just makes the healer's job easier. Plus getting exposed to fire damage isn't fun

You'll get rekt in the execute phase on the Mage at stage 4 vamp, because all the damage in that phase is fire.

For Asylum you better also lower your vamp stage because the execute phase hurts a lot.

For all the raids with fire damage Stage 2 is the best because it still gives you the 10% recovery (which is basically the only reason for even being a vamp) and reduces the fire damage to reasonable values.
