how do you report cheating?

There is not a lot but it is there.

Best way to report?

Any idea on how effective? Some companies care, most do not.

NOT A COMPLAINT THREAD. Cheating is just part of games these days (sadly), just want to know how to report, what helps, if anything.

If the person holds still long enough for you to hold F and report them, that's easiest. If they don't, and they are running around botting their little heart out, you can hit F12 repeatedly while aiming your camera at them until you get a screenshot that shows you their name clearly enough to copy it into a report as pulled up the way described above.

+1 on this, you wouldn’t believe what some people can build their characters to do.

But if it’s something clear, like players self-ressing themselves repeatedly after PVP deaths in Imperial City... yeah time to go to ZOS.

Oh gee, please explain what a good player is so I know who to ask. I R ST00pid

Someone getting inside a keep over and over, that is pretty obvious. They jump off to escape, suddenly back inside ganking again. Yeah, cheating. (They were not using the doors to (basically exploit) their way in as someone went inside, they were hoping that was what players would think. Smart cheaters are the toughest to catch)

Some other obvious ones.

The tougher ones are the lag delay attacks, mostly by archers. Because of crappy netcode or a *** poor server (or both), one can easily stack attacks so they all front load on someone by using hacks. Can only really tell if it happens by the same person a lot, consistently. But the smart ones will use it at sieges when maybe it is lag, so they will never get banned. Really not possible to catch with how poorly ESO runs.

Actually makes me think I should finally toss my PC and get a console. Far less cheaters on console. Many on PC. Many people have no idea about because it is hard to tell or sometimes the cheaters are just smart about when to use them. Plus all the legit builds that just use macros&animations canceling which are very good... all that is what makes most people leave.

So lots of stuff I should do but don't that isn't cheating but it just adds another layer, gotta macro up or you'll get smashed, plus a few other things.

Overall the PvP is fun but the server side lag is annoying and makes for messy PvP in large fights and mucho cheating possibilities that one can never know for sure. Stack on other stuff and this is why PvP is not big in ESO. All that despite some interesting classes and group combos and a well made RvR land. There should be 2 dozen cp campaigns going, not just 1, with how many play ESO.

So after awhile I figure why bother. I am not here long and if players want to cheat, go for it, really doesn't matter. And that is the real problem, fun but RvR is ultimately just a big battleground and ESO doesn't seem to care about PvP. A bummer but not surprising, this has always been a PvE first mmo.

Ok so the guy getting into a keep and jumping off to come back in.... lol seems you met your first nightblade running gapclose aND shadow image. No this is not cheating at all. It's using ambush or lotus fan to door jump when someone goes inside (or maybe there were there since flip, also happens) and then the jumping off walls just to get back inside? It's just shadow image dude, it's a normal nightblade skill.

I don't think anyone "lag hacks" at keep sieges, the servers just blow hard weiner and always lag at keep battles.

I use a Video capture program when I suspect a cheat. I look at it a few hours later, and if appears to be a cheat I report it.
99% of my reports are for bots.

They were just going back into the keep and fooling some idiot like yourself into thinking it was all just fine.

There is more cheating going on than you clearly realize, or you are just a cheater who is trying to downplay it all. There isn't a lot of cheating in PvP but it is happening. Stick your head in the sand if you want, idc.

Reporting cheating sucks.

You report a player.

You then get an automated reply telling you that because of privacy they can't tell you about any action taken.

They then point out that if you find a player behaviour objectionable you can ignore them.

Finally, they say if they don't hear from you again in the next 96hours they'll assume the matter has been resolved. I mean how do I know if it's been resolved if you won't tell me about any action taken?

Personally, I think the emails go straight to a spam folder which is deleted at the end of the day. Player's I've report are still playing and still doing the same things.

I remember one time a player was spamming zone chat to get as many people to report an individual whom the player swore on his mother was speed hacking. The reality was that said individual was utilizing movement speed sets before the movement speed stacking effect was nerfed. The player that was spamming chat was shamed and ostracized.

The point is, there is a lot of random, ambiguous and even buggy things that can occur or be achieved by players that less experienced players perceive as cheating. Make sure your claims are factual before creating issues for others.

And people wonder why cheating complains aren't taken as seriously as they would like. Cheating happens yes, but probably less than one percent of actual reports are valid. I got reported yesterday for running fungal grotto too quickly. Not kidding.
