Cutting Back on Pot

I’m looking into the Dreugh King Slayer set to stop burning through so many weapons damage pots on my Stam toons. Looks like it would pair good with many other sets. Does anyone use it anymore? Maybe with bone pirate or VO & Chudan.

I would be more inclined to get major brutality via a skill rather than Dreugh King, if I was dropping the pots.

I was most,y thinking about my Stamplar and maybe nightblade. I could use power extraction, but it’s odd to fit into burst combos.

Burst combos? Is this for PvP? Cause just use a two hander then and forward momentum.

If in pve, stamplars need to use shrouded daggers or rally for non pot major brutality. Power extraction isn't really that hard to fit into a rotation, just once every 20 seconds.

I always build the major buffs into my build without using pots cause I am cheap and lazy. And alot of the skills you get these buffs with are actually not bad at all.

This set pairs well for a Tank/DPS that still wants to slot all the necessary skills to deal damage and tank effectively while also saving your potion for tripots so that you can better utilize your tank skills.

I used this set on my DK tank with hunding's rage crafted in heavy armor, brandished a 2h to dish out damage and sword&board to tank when needed to.

This set effectively kept up major brutality on myself without ever needing to reapply every time i swap back to deal damage, and allowed me to continue to use tripots to keep up magicka for chains or dragonblood.

But you would only find the most fun out of this set up in group dungeons, veteran or normal.

I've been spending gold on master writs myself, pots are just too much at the moment. Shrouded Daggers is good if you dual wield, power extraction for big AOE fights, and a mechanical acuity front bar activation hits the hardest for my bosmer stamblade when running without crafted potions.

On my Stamplar I’m running DW NMG/VO/Chudan. Thinking of swapping NMG for Dreugh King and maybe VO with bone pirate. I keep at least 5 medium.

StamBlade gets resistance buff passively from surprise attack so I go Veledreth there.

For burst, I mean the little bit of time you have to do some rotation before bosses start ping pong around and have to restar. Your dots are only gonna carry so far. If I forget to use pot, at least buff is on.

I’m likely doing it wrong, but it kind of works for me until I get better.

every one of my Stam toons is wearing VO/NMG/Monster right now and I want to try and change things up a little. I got plenty of Dreugh king maces. I’m willing to give it a shot any ways.

The pot is getting pricey. Anywhere from 40 to 60 of em a run is starting to add up.

If you're just doing dungeons or trial plunder runs just use regular weed trash pots instead of the good stuff. That's what I do. Even for vMA, major brutality isn't needed unless you're trying to push for high scores.

my stamblade goes with 1pc molag kena, 5 pc spriggans, 5 pc dreugh king slayer...5 medium/2 heavy...

may change it up though cuz he uses a 2H and does have access to major brutality that way...

once my stam warden hits vet will probably have him in a set of dks...

Similar to my DW Stamblade, i'm also running DKS in a 5/2 medium/heavy setup.

That character has no skills in her rotation that grant Major Brutality, so DKS comes in very handy, no need to constantly chug pots to keep it up.

that's one way to look at it...although - i think most of us here have been playing long enough to be able to sacrifice a bit of "maximum optimization" in the name of build diversity...

i have 10 characters...one of each race and a mag/stam version of each class - it would be mind numbingly repetitive and boring to have everyone "optimized"...

it'd be a whole lot of the same skills and weapons over and over again...kind of like playing only a khajiit character :p

    I LOVE IT..

i love when people don't try to theorycraft and just use meta builds and say ohh this set is only good for this or its trash

long time ago (and even now not many people use DKS) ive spend allot of gold and mats getting all the dks gold rings when you were able to buy them and i used it on stamsorc with VO and veli.

    @#$@%$ WOW

It was BADD ASS over 4.5k WD up all time 55% crit it was hitting like nothing ive ever seen before it was one of the best builds i came up with ( im sure somebody else did but on xbox one i knew of nobody who was running this set and when i told them what set i have on they laughed at me ... of course i didn't tell them the stats of the build hehe)

only after the heavy attack changes i changed back to magica as i didn't really want to adapt and change to get more stam regen but .. maybe in future i might go back to.

As i said i loved the combination of those two sets and now i know i could push it to over 5.5k WD and with a VMSA daggers / swords ...

anyway don't be too afraid to experiment with sets at the moment im still trying different sets for my magica sorc and i know its nothing new to push over 50k magica and still have balanced crit regen and SP i might try to make a glass cannon with max SP just for fun to see what kind of numbers and damage i can get..

so experiment be different and try what works for you.

    I love Dreugh King Slayer.

I hate using potions or having to rely on a 2H weapon for my pure bow PVP Bosmer Nightblade. I think it's stupid that the bow needs to rely on potions or other weapons for Major Brutality. So...

5 piece Dreugh King Slayer (Chest, Bow, Jewelry x3)
5 piece Spriggan (Leg, Helm, Gloves, Waist, Feet)
    1 piece Kra'gh (Shoulder)

Go ahead and slap the Camo Hunter skill onto your bar and attack from stealth (for minor berserk + major savagery) and you NEVER have to buff your character for damage. I love how this build is basically plug and play.

In a perfect world I wouldn't need a 5 piece set to stick exclusively to the bow, but for whatever reason ZOS decided to make bow more support-based (which I don't agree should be the case).

Thanks for the input everyone. Guess where I was yesterday. Looking for daggers. I mean, the mace isn’t terrible, but I don’t really want to spend that kind of resource making it legendary. I dont know, I might. I have VO daggers....but kind of wanted the cost reduction to be on both bars more. It’s probably why players use pot or other heavy sets that give a Monster Damage buff for brief duration.
