it was talked about before in an episode of ESO live a LOOOOOONG time and was wondering if we can get an update on that idea.

ff14 does it with ps4 and pc, and I know Microsoft lifted something that prevented this for xbox.

its a lot to do with consoles working together I could see pc and xbox cross but they would have to limit mouse speed to be the same controller

When they briefly mentioned it on that ESO Live long ago, wasn’t the context “not in our plans”?

Moreover, you have to deal with framerate across platforms where console players are at a disadvantage.

Isn't lag and server issues one of the most talked about problems? Adding even more players to it wouldn't do any good, in fact, probably make it worse ..

It won't happen. The console companies wld lose $$$$ and they are not going to do that. For each console you have to pay a separate fee just to connect to eso and play. There is a pc transfer to console one time but idk if it is still available, maybe someone could tell us if that is still available. :)

Currently PlayStation was the hold up not Xbox....while Xbox is open to it, it seems only Xbox, PC and Nintendo are possible

Technically we could have PC and PS4
    Seperately PC and Xbox One

Not for certain if Steam would automatically be considered with PC or if those would be separate however some possibilities do exist but ZOS recently said it’s not something they intend to offer (officially 2017)

Platform transfers are not available, but that's not what this thread is about. This is about cross-platform gaming, i.e. players from different platforms playing together.

This is correct. Xbox and PC have some cross platform games, and Microsoft "exclusives" now tend to include both Xbox and PC. Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, has said he is open to cross platform gaming including Playstation but Sony only seems to care about themselves and not gamers.

I've never understood cross platform gaming .. everybody my as well just invest in a PC ..

Exclusive multiplayer bonuses would get out of hand .. paying to play online would probably make it's way to PC .. there would be so many things that would change, and probably for the worst ..

How quickly we forget. Sony has had cross-platform play for the PS2 in 2002 with FFXI. Do you know why FFXIV isn't on Xbox? Because Microsoft wouldn't allow it to be cross-play with PC. Do you know why Warframe was on PS4 long before Xbox? Because Microsoft was not open to cross-play with PC and Sony was when Digital Extremes was still deciding how to handle the PS4 developement (it ended up not being cross-play but that was DE's choice, Sony was all for it).

There is a long history of cross-play for Sony and almost none for Microsoft. While I agree that Sony's recent excuse is pretty bad they are also dominating the online console market right now so having cross-play with Xbox would only hurt their profits. They have better exclusives, a larger user base, and cross-play with PC when needed. The fact that Sony doesn't want cross-play with Microsoft is just good business for them and it's what MS has been doing to them for years.

And just to be clear I have been gaming on Xbox since early 2002. It was only when MS was forcing the kinect on the Xbox One that I begrudgingly purchased my first PlayStation console, the PS4. So tell me again how MS only cares about the gamers and how Sony is the one holding back cross-play since 2002. Sure, it would be fantastic to have console cross-play but don't blame Sony for sticking it to MS for once.

Guild trader pricing, proper buff timers, outfit/gear/skill changers, customizable UI, customizable button mapping (even when using a controller), etc. It's not that ZOS hasn't added some of these things already, it's that add-ons just do them way better.

It was a general observation, not a personal request. Even as a non-PvPer on PC who doesn't use add-ons it seemed to me that cross-platform PvP wouldn't be a level playing field.

Good sir check your facts. PC was/is Microsoft waaaaay before Sony existed in gaming

And Xbox quickly let folks buy without a Kinect....unless you were an early adopter that didn’t apply especially for this game and Final Fantasy. How in the world would it hurt their profits....please stop regurgitating article headlines and read the facts.

You can’t hurt what you don’t have. Where’s the logic?

If you want you can just search here as I’ve commented on this exact comment about 20-40 times since consoles were a discussion for this game.

The issue is PlayStation. It’s often been PlayStation for different reasons and there are some Xbox issues but it’s not the cross platform it’s other hurdles. This developer has the same issues they just spent a year working around to release.

All that stuff is PR for devs not being able to come forward until those deals expired. Just do some research, PlayStation in some cases were even paying devs not to do things for Xbox to make it appear as Xbox was the issue.

Final Fantasy is a developer EGO issue. You don’t tell a platform what you will and won’t do or else you won’t release your game on their platform. See how dumb that reads.....go look it up tho. That’s why it’s not on Xbox cause he said they better do x and y....when all along it’s Playstation who said no

The issue is he didn’t want to use Xbox live. That’s the only part Xbox was to blame but how the heck were we going to play an Xbox game without Xbox live and wanted to force a subscription but disregard Xbox live gold. Bruh cmon,.......dumb and dumber (the devs not you)

And here I was thinking we are the same....well actually take add-one away and console players are better one would argue.

At least on Xbox one we had the first perfect Vmsa run on a night blade with the fastest time for a while. Also some good PvE guilds but no idea on PvP....I personally would welcome PC and Xbox with open arms if we get the PC user interface That i miss a lot

You might be surprised what years of playing with no assistance does to gamers. With much less buttons and less accessory options.

I think anyone who thinks a PC player can't simply spend a few days getting use to the controls on console and dominate, or a console player can't just do the same on PC has some pretty serious blinders on.

Player skill transcends whatever platform you are playing on. If you suck on PC, you will also suck on console. If you suck on console you will also suck on PC.

edit: and for addons, it would take me less than a day to get use to not having them.

Add-ons have nothing to do with helping in pvp or pve the ONLY thing that separates PC/Xbox/pc4 is performance and PC will out preform both Xbox and ps4 when it comes down to frame rates and everything else

I completely agree, its just a matter of preference. I can play shooter games with a controller, I just hate doing it. Its pretty sad seeing one side take shots at the other, based largely upon ignorance. Hopefully the players and developers will one day understand how everyone wins with cross-platform.
