So i noticed that my dw daggers dont seem to be returning any magicka when im using magicka abilities as nightblade. Even while 60 points of CP is assigned to trait increasing the returned magicka/stamina on heavy/light attacks.

Is this supposed to be like this??

That CP star increases the amount you get back on heavy attacks with the respective heavy--so it's increasing the stamina you return on your DW heavies, but not giving you any magicka.

It will increase the magicka you return with destro or resto staff heavies.

Yes, only staves return magicka. Every other weapon returns stamina...also only heavy attacks return resources, light attacks give no resources back. I hope this helps, good luck!

Helped a lot, did not make my day though :(

Seems like i cant really be a mafivka user with melee weapon as one of my Nord sorcerers used to be..

I take it they have returned the resource previously as i have not been in OOM situation with these kinds of builds previously i played such last summer? Or perphaps it was just the sorc talent that helped but it looked like the heavy attack returnedmagicka back then.

    Thanks for helping though :)

DW weapons (swords) were used at one point by certain magic builds to boost their spell damage. They were never effective at weaving between magic skills as they only did very minimal physical damage, but it could be used to apply enchants. This all went out the window when they reworked the destro passives. You still see DW magic builds, but they arent as common. The main advantage is really for the second 5 -piece set bonus, so a lot of the former DW have gone to Sword and Board in those situations. They have never returned magic, nor is it intended they do so. If you are struggle to sustain, grab a staff.

Morrowind happened or the war against sustain. You need heavy attack in your rotation unless you run an healer level sustain build. DW magic don't work well outside of pvp burst builds.
No it was not an good idea.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I see, thanks for clarifying that for me. I guess i just enchant absorb magicka on the weapons to help some then :)

Its not supposed to be that effective this one, just for the RP flavour so it does not matter much, but it is much more fun to play when one can use abilities :D

Funny how i never notced this before, been playing from beta after all but stuff happens.

The only times I used DW as a magic player was as a bomb blade and...well...usually you don't need to heavy attack when bombing.

But everyone gave great advice and cleared it up for you. Good luck.

You can back bar a restro staff for magicka return if you want to run dual wield. Also, running daggers is going to be less optimal, as the passives for daggers only influences weapon crit and not spell crit. Running 2 swords is the best option for a magicka build because it will give you an overall damage increase.

Emphasis on the word some, even just a magic return glyph won't do much so you should invest in upping your Magicka Recovery as well so you're not constantly drained.

I will mention that 60 points into tenacity doesn't fall on a jump point so you are wasting some CPs. The CP tree only respects full percentages. I believe 56 and 64 are the jump points that you are falling between.

They nerfed sustain in this game very hard when morrowind released. A lot of builds just don’t work anymore after that. Looks you are another victim of the ESO nerfhammer.

Why on earth on you using daggers on a magbuild?

Because it suits the characters biography :) Characters like this are not meant to be the most effective but on the places i play them, they still are too good. This question was simply because the game is not that fun when only thing available is auto attack and i believe i can do some tweaks that will help me with some enchants and items sets that help magicka stuff in general.

Fully charged in this case means to the point where the attack fires even though you don't release the attack. I hardly ever get it with my Fire Staff, but can with Lightening with more ease.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I dw a magplar and sustain just fine in pvp. in pve I will put a lightning staff on back bar instead of s/b for the long boss fights
