Seasons!

After playing Aion back in the day with seasons, i have been wanting this for every game ever since. I know its quite an undertaking, but i believe it would bring much needed variety and possibility for seasonal quests as well. Season though, should be considerably longer than they were in Aion.

I am not sure, but often when it rains ash near Devons watch, it feels like its changing the ground to be ashen as well, my character might also get a litle ash on it. Im not sure if this is just a very active imagination or if its really happening, but if its real, part of the needed systems are allready there.

Yes, the bug fixing is another department of developers, separate from DLC designers :P

Oh boy would I love to have seasons in ESO. I do think that it is not exactly possible to do that "just like that" and each zone has its unique flavor to the season (mild in Auridon, rough in Wrothgar and the Rift and every part of Eastmarch that isn't a hot spring and so on). I would like to see it tied to the real world seasons, but it's a huge deal to program just for a small gain. It's the cherry-on-top.

Should any ZOS member read this though, consider implementing it for player homes first just to get less work and more pay-off

It would definately be a nice touch. I’ve always been a fan of games that changed the appearances of vanilla areas at least a bit to match whatever holiday event was going on.

The season should be 4times as fast as real world seasons as there are about 4 ingame days per real world day.

On a side note, I'd also like to see tides be a thing. It's weird having two very large moons and no tides.

I agree. The seasons should have the same relative scaling to real seasons as have the day cycle in ESO though im not sure how the season in Nirn work taking in consideration the gravitational forces of moons and type of sun etc so im not sure are they really comparable to our season in relative terms but still.

I know its a huge undertaking and nothing thats high on priority but at some point, it would really be a great "Cherry on the top" thing (Or small umbrella if youre in to these).

Once when i was idling on Glenumbra, standing in a very tiny sand "island" almost on the shore, i thought there was a tidal wave because when i finally came back, the character was standing in the water up to his waist. I tried to redo this, but nothing happened so i concluded that it was my cat who was that tidal wave. Matbe she was just walking on the keyboard :D Solution to tidal waves, get a cat =^.^=

The oceans as a whole need a overhaul. They are flat, bland and dull.

Ryzom did seasons the best. Not only did the landscape change: flowers in spring, snow in winter, etc, but the NPC's also changed their behavior based on the season. A herd of bison will be in one place in the spring, but might migrate to another location in the winter.

On top of that, materials for crafting were present in certain seasons, and absent in others. In fact, some mats might only be available in the spring, at night, when it's raining, for example.

This kind of thing leads to total immersion. ESO should try to implement at least some of it.

This goes back to the fact that it would serve the game to have NPCs interact with their environment and vice versa.
Yes this is an MMO but it is still part of the Elder Scrolls franchise and immersion should be more of a priority in the game

Immersion is a big TES thing and really should be considered one of the priorities while designing stuff. Like these seasons, other that comes to mind immediately is housing where there is so litle stuff yu can currently interact and animals you place just stand there.

It would be quite an undertaking, which is why most MMOs don't do it. I mean they even stuck the weather client side (which is also strangely common) and that's why 2 characters standing right next to each other experience different weather... which I find incredibly annoying and don't understand why they did this. Point is, if they can't even manage weather effects in a reasonably logical way I don't have much hope for them being able to figure out seasonal weather effects. Then we'd just end up with it being winter for some people... while the people right next to them are experiencing summer. GG Zeni.

    I definitely would love seasons!

But then, I would be satisfied with more changing weather, even... having regions always be the same is boring. I'd love to have occasional ice storms that do slight freeze DoT to people wandering unprotected in eastmarch (selling fur cloaks for cold protection, worn in the disguise slot!), and occasional rains that lower all fire damage in shadowfen, heat waves that reduce maximum stamina and ice damage in alik'r and thunderstorms with a very slight chance of lightning strikes in most places...
    Oh, well.

Maybe some future game will bring us those levels of immersiveness...

All weather is client side anyway so it wouldn't be hard. I would really love to see a winter version of Reaper's March. A dreary gray with a cold ground. You think it snows that far south?

Lul, expecting THAT much from ZOS.

Fun fact, lads, they've found a way to monetize nearly every single update to-date. None of what you write about won't happen. Sure, it would be nice. It would make the game stand out from the rest. But it won't happen.
