Maelstrom Arena abilities PS4 NA

So, spent the last few days in vMA. I noticed that when I try to hit some abilities, they wouldn't fire. I see the button on my bar light up, but no ability triggers. I played on my magicka sorc, and I hit my shield, the ability on the bar would light up, but my shield was never triggered. That's just one example. I'd hit power surge, it's supposed to let me heal with crits, and again, the ability would light up on my bar, but not trigger.
You can see how this can be extremely frustrating. vMA is already difficult (for me, anyway) when all my abilities work, but this has been almost impossible.
And while this happens from time to time in the world outside of the arena, it has been magnified inside of it. I recently got a brand new controller, so it's not wear and tear, nor is it my internet connection. I see the ability react on my bar when I hit the button, but there is no in game reaction.
This has happened to a YouTube streamer by the name of Xynode as well, and documented in one of his recent live streams.

And while he was able to complete his run, I don't have near his talent.
Bringing this to your attention in hopes of a solution. The work on the latest patch seems a good time to delve into bugs.
