Resources are Awfully Thin On The Ground These Days....

I don't know whether it's Bots or folks just farming areas to the point of rudeness, or a combination of the two -- but it's getting awfully hard for an ordinary player to find the resources they need, just to complete daily crafting quests. PC?Mac, NA.

Runestones are about the only things that are still relatively easy to find -- but even then, thank goodness for the surveys you sometimes get as a reward.
"Nothing by which all human passion and hope and folly can be mirrored and then proved ever was just a game."

gathering in newbie areas? craglorn? need hides?

try Deshaan, Stonefalls, Glenumbra, Reaper March or Bangkoria. less traffic and not often farmed.

newbie zones are overcamped with bots and lazy gatherers where the mobs post no threats or challenges to harvest runners.

we make few extra alts for hirelings to get raw resources from mail.

folks who use bot scripts dont care and they tended to overflood auction merchants and often seeing huge stacks when some players only need 5-8 items, not more than 200's and little overpriced.

Yeah I disagree OP - most places you can't swing a chicken without hitting a resource node.

If you are having trouble finding enough mats for dailys, you aren't farming right. There is literally nothing that is hard to find if you choose the right places to look. Need Nirnroot? Look under the bridge leading from Stonefalls to The Rift out of Fort Virak. Need Rubedite? Wander around literally any mountainous area in the game. Its all there and easy to find. Hell, I can just wander around Deshaan for 20 minutes aimlessly and find everything I need for dailys without issue.

    Almost all DLC zones are fine for farming;

Otherwise just go to vanilla zones that arent being farmed for sets (i.e. Rivenspire) or the first zones that are filled with newbies like crazy. And stay away from Alikr. the dolmen farm is strong, and they grab every resource between there and oblivion.

Examples of good vanilla farming zones are:
Malabal Tor, Greenshade, the Rift, Eastmarch

I'm going to have to disagree with OP as well. I've been trying to knock out some quests on an alt in speed-run fashion, but there's been so many nodes around, and my crafter OCD won't let me run by without grabbing it, that it's been an impossibly slow task.

Greenshade, Glenumbra, Stormhaven, etc have always seemed full of nodes for me.

Southern Bangkorai has been fruitful for me lately. I move spots alot though. Eastmarch is a usual spot for me as well as Wrothgar.

Depend on then you play, early in the morning questing is hard as you end up farming resources all the time.
Double buff if the quest take you to some remote part of map not used much outside of the quest.

Tamriels massive and the resources resplendent fairly quickly, I have no trouble finding resource nodes and I don't really understand how anyone does if they know where to look.

I'm not having any difficulty finding resources in any of the places I visit. I should single out Craglorn though, again no problems finding resources but that Nirncrux, no luck lately. The wife and I spent about an hour just farming and neither one of us found any Nirncrux. Now, I should point out we didn't go to upper Craglorn but that's not the only place to find it these days, from what I've read.

Correct, you can find nirncrux anywhere in Craglorn. They changed that even before One Tamriel. The drop rate is 1 in 200, so keep that in mind while farming. I usually find at least 1 or 2 on a loop of the whole zone.

But even in Craglorn, one of the busiest farming zones, I don't have any problems finding nodes unless I'm literally right on the heels of some other farmer.

XB NA and I myself got nothing done in Greenshade the other day because..

Me: "oh look! a bright thing! *picks ancestor silk*
Me 2 seconds later: Oh! bright red light! *yanks out runestone*

Me:"Oh, red rocks! sweet 2 more raw rubedite! only like eleventy gazillion more to go!"

Me 1 min later: oh ancestor silk! And another runestone!

That went on for a good hour. Quests did not get done.

Still need a boatload more Rubedite and Ancestor Silk though...and I still have to wipe out bears on an unprecedented level.

If I want to find mats, I just get on my mount. Guaranteed that in less than ten strides I'll have to dismount to pick flowers, ore, fiber, runes, wood, or ingredients. I swear my tiger has gotten rather annoyed at the really disjointed stop and start travel.....Darn the original single player Morrowind that started the terminal packratitis....

This is why I invested in Darkstride + Cowards' Gear. Sprint + Major Expedition for days and no dismounting.

Depends on the areas I guess. And the times of the day. Yesterday I was running around Bal Foyen to catch 3 plants I needed on my brand new NA account and all the spots I know (since I make Bal Foyen my favorite pit stop between activities) were gone. There were some people around but eventually I decided I'd camp a spot. Because I'm lazy :p Guess what. It didn't take long for the bots to start running right through me on their cycle. Couple minutes later, same guys again. I even had one literally vanish in front of me while he was running. And also the infamous 'someone else is using that' before the node vanished without me being able to grab it. Seriously. If I had wayshrines open elsewhere I would port away. Alas I did not, and felt like the area would provide a quick answer to my crafting writ.

    Guess I was wrong.

    This is SO TRUE!

Aside from Craglorn I never have a problem finding mat nodes. Even though potent Nirn are worth a lot I personally just farm a few other zones, the 3-4x extra Ore/Silk/Wood I get and refine is worth more in gold mats than the Nirn is.

I have a few favourite spots to go, which I'll never reveal.

Dont know, it still seems like there's plenty of them... At least on EU.
Oh, and I'd suggest getting that alchemy passive that makes ingredients glow. :) God knows how many columbines and mountain flowers I would have missed if not for that passive! :D
