Heavy Attacks and Resource generation, and damage.

Now I know there are going to be a lot of people against this idea, but it would add a LOT more build versatility in the game for all of the classes, and maybe even open up some new end game builds.

My idea is that regardless of your weapon type, Heavy Attacks should return your highest resource. Say I'm doing a Magicka Nightblade, and I'm an up in your face build with a two handed weapon, or dual wielding maces, that my heavy attacks should restore mana instead of Stamina, and that my Magicka should factor into my basic attack damage instead of my Stamina and vice versa for staves.

Admittedly I have no lore defining reason why this should work, but truth is, I just want some more freedom of creativity in my character building, and still be viable in PvE/PvP.

As a magplar. I run both DW and SnB. I've chosen that, as I don't like destro skills, and SnB is better for pure mitigation outnumbered than resto staff, even though resto ultimate is so look good.

I've also chosen it so that I can heavy attack for stamina, I block alot, I run alot, and dodge roll way more often than I need to.

Another reason I run them is to get both desert rose and riposte on both bars. I am against this change

All they need to do is make two handed weapons count as two set pieces and balance the weapons off of the new build capabilities. Two handed axe is already a better choice than DW on a stamina toon and would be essentially a Nerf to DW...So buff DW. Leave SnB alone as is.

Trust me, I WANT to be able to use a resto staff...but the current set bonuses don't allow it for my build.

I'm iffy on this. For PvE yes, that sounds great. But for PvP, I DW to get stam back while on a magicka bluid, not only do more damage

It would help too few builds I think. Most mag classes don't wanna be in melee range etc

If it were an option to let that happen, sure.

If this weren't an option, my MagDK would struggle to regenerate stamina for blocking and taunting with One-hand and shield.

Or in other words, tanking on a magicka character not using a frost staff just got a lot harder.

It would mean builds using both magicka and stamina weapons could now only replenish one resource pool with heavy attacks. Especially for hybrids this seems absurd.

Leaving the whole "that does not make sense" part aside, this'd actually lead to fewer choices available in some cases. We would not be able to choose what resource we want to restore anymore by choosing a weapon and instead would always restore highest one. For tanks(and hybrids I guess) that sounds pretty bad.

Also the lack of resource restore isn't the biggest reason not to use certain weapons, it's just that they're generally tailored to different builds. Stamina costing skills will be useless for a magicka build. Stamina weapons related passives will therefore be useless as well(except for DW one which is a reason some magicka builds DO use DW). Even heavy/light attack damage itself will be weak. Granted, you can make all of those scale with highest resource instead but...that just sounds boring and definitely wouldn't lead to more diversity.

Okay sop then how about it just replenishes both? Or maybe make it a toggle option.

Replenishing both would be a major buff to sustain. I'd prefer a toggle option to having no choice.

the whole no two sets plus mosnter set for 2h bow and staffusers could also be solved by introducing sets that have their best thing at 4 piece and no 5 piece bonus and only drop in jewelry, bows 2 handers and staffs so you cant use it on SB and dual wield.
they can make the bonusses almost or as good as a the 4+ 5 piece bonus on other sets.

I also tend to use dual wield on magicka builds because i cant use 2 sets and monster set with staffs. wish i didnt have too.

See, having heavy attacks replenish both is a good thing. Lets get on this ZOS.
