This is something I always wanted to discuss. Now, in light of the new outfit system, it's probably more timely than ever. In some MMOs, you can mix and match individual armor pieces (cosmetically) to create and wear unique outfits, while in other games it's just not a thing.
For those of you who have never played any other MMO, I'll bring the example of LOTRO (Lord of the Rings Online). You have dozens of LOTRO fashion blogs run by players, who do this. They create unique, themed outfits that players can check out and copy in-game. Examples would be Arctic Hunter, Angmarim Warrior, Elf Queen of Ossiriand. This is made possible by the fact that the game has many individual pieces of gear/cosmetics that are not part of any set. These are quest rewards, world drops, crafted, etc. You have the typical traveller-type stuff, townsfolk attire, dwarf warrior stuff, etc...
In other games, like this one, there is a distinct lack of fashion blogs, because in my opinion it's harder to mix and match pieces if everything you have in-game is already part of an original outfit. The original outfit looks best together. It's hard to marry pieces from different outfits because the textures are oftentimes very different. I tried to make something out of some Morag Tong and Ashlander, but one has a weird shine to it, while the other does not and they just simply looked bad together. I tried to make an Arctic Hunter type outfit only to realize nothing really beats a full set of Skinchanger.
I'm not sure how the new outfit system will change the scene, but I can't wait to see what they've done.
