Drain attribute poisons OP?

17Bishop
17Bishop
So every time someone procs a poison on me, my 40k may pool just vanished from full to empty in the blink of an eye. I don't understand why or how that's possible. I don't even have enough time to cleanse before I'm out of resources and neck deep in a destro ult. So can someone please explain why they drain my resource bars so quickly?

You can't purge resource cost increase poisons. Yes they are OP

Edit: no counter makes them OP, should be purgeable

I would just like to know how it does 38-40k magika drain in half a second when I'm not casting. I just end up dead in the blink of an eye because I can't heal or purge effects. There needs to be a balance to poisons.

30% is massive on a mag spec. Think the average cost of a mag ability is around 3-3.5k. 30% = approximately 1k mag or in other words it's the equivalent LOSS of 2k Regen!!! (Per cast of mag ability, if you gotta spam it's an equivalent loss of 4k mag Regen!)

Also, cost increase poisons don't just affect abilities, but mechanics too (30% increase to dodge roll, block etc)

You're probably casting Something (or you would just be standing there lol)

It doesn't. It increases the cost of abilities you cast by 30%. Its impossible to use 38k mag in .5 seconds. If you spammed purge with cost poisons on you it would still take several seconds to empty your pool to zero.

If your resources drop to zero and you die a second later, your health desynced. You died when your resources hit zero, you were just lagging.

If you're literally going from full to dead, this other response is correct. It's a desync. Not poisons. Poisons usually leave you alive with no resources, then dead

Its beyond me, what Zenimax do not understand. We dont want resource poisons, its something what cant be controlled by community. You cant just say, guys dont use resource poisons, they are bad for the game. There is always these few Salt-Lords who will exploit it to the limit not just for getting advantage, but just for making ur game experience way worse.

I dont think any player in the history of eso ever thought these poisons were a good idea. These poisons are just broken and not fun. The ruin the gameplay so heavily I dont use them because the advantage would be to great if they proc.

The worst use of cost poisons is a Stam poison against a mag user, followed up with a double CC like petrify.

    Game over.

I wouldn't entirely say that. The poisons I use which after over the weekend drove me to start using them again are

Magicka cost increase / stun on my back bar cuz that's my s&b bar

Magicka / stamina cost increase on my front bar 2h bar

So I know your pain when you get those proc'd on you and you're like WTF. I think they need to be removed like AoE caps just did.

And with this set up you're gaining 250 mag and Stam per sec for 5 ish sec out of 10 (or 250 Regen average to both) while increasing everything of theirs

I used to think the exact thing that you are thinking right now, but you are wrong (as I was)...

When your Magicka Bar vanishes like that (in seemingly an eye blink), then you are the victim of a Health Desyc; you are already dead when this happens to you (if you notice, your Stamina Bar vanishes as well when this happens)...

That's why the game takes away all of your resources until it catches up to your death...

Yes, the Resource Poisons are strong, but trust me, once you get used to dealing with them, they are not a Death Sentence...

I hate to say this, but this is a learn to play issue with a steep learning curve...

The counter is to learn good Resource management and/or possess a means to rapidly recover resources...

Engine Guardian can help in this regard as can wearing a 5 piece Sustain Set (or 2) if needed...

Edit: fighting fire with fire (Poisoning your opponent) is viable as well (especially when combined with one of the above methods of sustaining oneself)...

Literally my favorite build of all time is Assassins guile back bar with stam drain poisons on mageblade.
