I already have the game on an old pc (i3, 4gbs of ram, hd 6850). and I recently purchased a PS4. Is there a major difference in performance from my old pc to PS4? I want to know before I buy the game again. Thanks.

No, plus PS4 doesn't have addons.

I do wonder... why not upgrade your PC instead of buying a PS4? O.o

Yes, buy it because there are no addons on console.

Pvp is much better on console because of it.

No. Console interface would keep me away plus I (personally) can't see playing this game with a controller

If you want to be able to easily search guild stores. stay PC (Awesome Guild Store addon). Plus many more...

For the price of that PS4, you can easily afford a Geforce 660 GTX video card and 8GB of RAM to upgrade your PC.

I would not recommend running ESO with 4GB of ram. It's quite the memory hog:

If you gonna play on a PS4 its better be the PS4 PRO , else the game will be as trashy as your old PC.

I play the game on high end PC and PS4 PRO.
ofcourse the PC graphics are better , and if you have good CPU you will have 60fps in most pve zones
HOWEVER Cyrodiil on PC perform just as trashy as on PS4 and also on PC the lag spikes are significantly more common thing (players teleporting around in PvP)
On PS4 you wont have addons , but this will result in better PVP gameplay .

In terms of Mouse and Keyboard or Dualshock 4 I would say that my
animation canceling skills with my DS4 controller are equal to macros, it just feels way more natural to play the game wih controller.

Hey Leem, I am a vet on eso for ps4. Been playing since release and was a top player when it was the only game I played. I can give you some insight on the ps4 population in the present, also I back what RouDeR said(first paragraph).

When Destiny 2 came out it really took a good amount of the population with them. Ive seen it personally in my guild and in others(even a trading guild ive been in), friends for years and top players alongside. I can say to you that the population looks the worse its ever been and I've been around for every patch. Pc has the better population and
    performance/support, ps4 only for convenience.

    Have a good one.

I'm new to ESO and I'm on PS4. The game performs really well, looks great, and I've seen no issues at all.

I cannot compare to PC, but from prior comments, the PC community must be ridiculously huge, because there are a lot of people playing this game on PS4. (Towns are full. Everywhere I explore, I see others running around, etc.)

Also to @FlyLionel I wonder how many Destiny 2 players have or are coming back to ESO. I have it, and found there to be no end game and became boring. Plus there's the whole ordeal over the expansion that my didn't bother with - myself included.

    Yes, its much better.

No constant stupid FPS bs, no ridiculous add ons that hold your hand as you play the game, better environment and in my genuine honest opinion, the quality of PVP is better from all the videos ive seen on youtube.

The top PC players are great but the average PC player is way way below the average PS4 player

Yes, ps4 is way better despite the PC fanboys in this thread...no mods so pvp is better, very active(atleast on ps4/na; players everywhere), and most the players seem to be decent human beings. I can't prove it but I think there are more players on ps4 than either PC or xbox...it is the #1 selling console by alot and every location seems very populated, I've never felt like this game is dying unlike all the empty server threads I've seen PC/Xbox players posting occasionally. Take the advice of *** and "Just do it"....if you need a trading guild when you get here just hit me up on psn: jlboozer. We stay in major trading locations...peace!

ESO is difficult to recommend. The game itself is absolutely amazing.

However, if you play any content that is performance-intensive, ESO has a stroke. In PvP and endgame PvE Vet trials alike, you get enormous lag and (even on my PS4 Pro) you often get pushed down to play at around 5-15FPS.

There are game-breaking bugs (Heavy Attack perms-snare, etc) and some key skills have lots of issues that hurt the performance of the class itself (Streak not working in doorways/elevations, NB shade failing, Jesus beam broken dmg calculation) which have all accumulated overtime without fixes for over a year on some skills.

On a normal PS4, you see black figures running everywhere and get tons of FPS issues simply by entering and roaming around in a populated city like Wayrest. I could go on and on.

To sum it up, ESO is very poorly optimized. Far more of the performance/bug issues affect PvP though rather than PvE.

If this is not an issue (like you avoid Cyrodiil PvP and Trials) then you should be fine though. Like I said, the actual content of ESO is amazing, but game performance is poor. You need a high-end PC to avoid most of these performance issues and even then you’ll still get plenty of lag in large PvP battles and a bit in Vet trials.

Wouldn't this depend on your internet connection speed?

I see black figures if I use a shrine to jump to a town/city and run over to a bank or whatever. It takes about 10 seconds or less and everyone shows up fine. I never blamed the PS4 on this, just how ESO loads the map area nice and quick and lets everyone else up load. In my opinion, this beats waiting on a loading screen.

In all other cases, as I've been playing ESO, I haven't encountered black-figure issues.

I run a regular ps4 without any issue other than the occasional lag spike. Population wise, it did drop when destiny 2 came out but imo it has rebounded since then. Of course there are toxic peeps, but a lot of awesome ones as well. If ya need any help when ya switch (training gear etc) just let me know. I can also invite ya to a few of the largest trading guilds on the server if that's your type of thing.

Yep, I have a good time, been playing since launch, even though I took a break for a while.

I stare at a computer 50 hours a week, why would I want to come home and stare at another one? Sit back on the couch with controller (and keyboard) and have fun.

If I were you, I would get the ps4 pro. From what I'm hearing, chatting with people in groups, the ps4 pro does perform better when playing ESO. Might pull the trigger on one myself.

As many have said it boils down to if you use/like/enjoy addons. If you are accustomed to them and rely on them it may be very hard to live without. If you enjoy a more "pure" game then it won't be an issue at all.

I am sure the game can looks it's best on PC, but without a good one (like myself) I play on Xbox and really feel it looks great there. Better then on my older PC (of course a good pc would most likely look better).

The community overall is less entrenched on consoles as well as we only have had access to the game for 2 years a season opposed to PC. Up to you if that's a good or bad thing.

Interaction amongst players seems to be mostly voice chat on consoles which may be a negative or positive based on how you feel w that. You CAN text chat, and more and more people seem to do this, but I'd imagine less often then on PC.

Then you have your personal preferred way to play. Some love keyboard and mice, others game controllers. I believe there is a way to play on a controller ON the PC, but I'm uncertain about that so I won't go on much further.

One last thing to consider is how much you want to be on the cuttin edge of content. PC gets access to pretty much everything a few weeks before console. This is either good if you're on PC and like to do stuff totally fresh, or good if you're on console as there are often tons of guides online by the time it gets to you.

Just some food for thought, hope it helps!

You need to find new guilds, bud. I am a part of a guild thats been going strong for 2 years still. In 2 others that are always active. All 3 are almost always maxed as far as population. Guilds grow and die. You find new ones. That's the cycle of MMO guilds.

    To OP:
You do you but buy a used disk. I been finding on Facebook marketplace ESO for sale as little as $5. Try it and see if you like it for counsel. A recent guild member of mine went to PC and he likes it. Still joins us on PS4 because he loves us but he likes the freedom you get with PC.

My internet speed is flawless. I had my brother sign in to ESO on his normal PS4 and it took over 20sec (after an “unusually long load screen”) to load black figures into Wayrest by the Undaunted Enclave. He traveled into the town and all over black figures were still running since it only loaded the people in his immediate vicinity. FPS was also low the whole time. On PS4 Pro I don’t experience that at all besides some FPS drops in towns and slow NPC loading.

It looks like you accept this type of thing and are fine with it though. That’s cool, yet the reason why PvP and endgame PvE has such horrible performance is due to that exact mindset. It’s not isolated as a problem with loading into populated cities - this performance is dramatically worse in certain content. You aren’t affected by it as much as others so it’s not a big deal to you, but if ZOS only has those populations complaining and not the massive amount of people who don’t care much for that particular content at a given time, then ZOS can get away with never improving it. Pretty much why Cyrodiil lag and endgame PvE will always have horrible performance especially on console :unamused:

Used disks? This isn't 1990 anymore. Chances are, if you buy ESO used, the registration code will be invalid and/or you may lose the account if the original owner decides they want to recover the account. Most online games only require the registration code as proof of ownership.

Have you been in a Vet trial or a large scale PvP battle before? It’s not even arguable that PC has far better performance. Even PS4 Pro vs normal PS4 the difference is huge lol.

Lag is only half the issue. Low FPS is the other half which PC doesn’t have to deal with nearly as bad.
