Build for both PvE and PvP?

Is it possible to run a build that's viable in both PvE and PvP? I don't plan to respec anything since I spend most of my time in PvE (so I won't re-allocate any CP, I won't re-morph any skills, like Harness Magicka into Dampen Magic, etc.).

I was thinking of just popping on some Rattlecage + Necropotence with impenetrable trait (I already have the gear). Is that good enough to be OP? I just want to do some zerging without dying in 1 hit.

And is there a preferred weapon trait for PvP? Sharpened?

Swapping gear doesnt make you OP.

I tend to put my CP points for PVP and just swap my gear out.

Being OP in PVP is less a matter of gear and more a matter of experience with your build. If you play well and stick to the middle of the zerg with a decent amount of health/resistances, you'll probably be fine for what you want to do.

Swapping gear works fine for sorcerers. The usual magicka sorcerer builds tend to have an adequate supply of skills that are overlap or don't interfere with each other. You can just swap gear and become a tank, dps, healer, or pvper easily.

Gear and build isn't the problem. The problem is CP. You use completely different CP setups in PVP vs PVE. So if you are okay with being suboptimal in one of them, you can go for a PVE minmax CP spec for DPS and be sort of okay at pvp too.

The fact you added "OP" and "I just want to do some Zerging" is a mistake right there.

How to be OP in PVP:

      Kill someone.

"OMG SO OP NERF NOW! HAX! HAX!"
"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster...when you gaze long into the abyss the abyss also gazes into you..."

It is, as long as you're a magblade

I use infused, to be honest...

what's up guys, so I just started playing ESo but am familiar with skyrim and mmo's from my time playing wow, once I finish leveling and manage some halfway decent gear I plan on jumping into pvp, what I'm wondering is which stats I should focus on with my pvp build? I am currently leveling a DK for dps and a sorcerer for ranged dps, I'm stuck trying to decide between the two lol

Hey, while I'll admit that "doing some zerging without dying in one hit" is not exactly the most skilled of PVP playstyles, it pretty much describe how I learned to PVP when I was just starting. I couldn't survive on my own because I was so inexperienced at PVP that safety in the pack was the only option for a while.

Now, even hiding in the middle of the zerg and getting a few kills here and there teaches a few things about PVP. For one, I learned to read the ebb and flow of combat. As a healer, oh boy, did I learn to read the ebb and flow of combat so that I didn't get stuck out in the front and learned with to retreat. I also learned what skills I had that were actually useful against other players and which ones just weren't useful in PVP at all. Finally, I learned how to read the map to find conflicts, how to counter certain abilites that would otherwise kill me, how to move in combat with dodge rolls and line of sight, and which groups were organized and which ones weren't.

In short, those early days of hiding in zerg and trying not to die laid the foundation for my current PVP experience, where I'm able to solo, small group and organized raid comfortably. I'm still learning to 1v1 effectively on my new stam warden, but the combat awareness I gained from those early zerging days has definitely been a valuable tool as I've moved away from that playstyle.

So I'd say that the OP's desired playstyle of "zerging and trying not to die in one hit" is a reasonable way to gain experience in PVP (and, I'll admit, a reasonable way to cool off and relax when I get tired of running from keep defense to keep defense or solo stealth sieging keeps). In my experience, it requires a certain amount of combat awareness to avoid dying while still getting kills, even if it is substituting safety in numbers for sheer player skill. With decent health/resistances, its definitely a viable playstyle.
