New weapon skill line suggestion. No weapon?

I would like to see a new weapon skill line where there is no visible weapon.

In the other elder scrolls games you can cast spells without a staff so that seems wizardy.

Or maybe some punches, martial arts moves and casting spells with your hands. Some of the skills could be magicka and some stam based.

There could be a soul gem like item or focus that needs to be quality improved like a weapon with quality, trait and enchantment. It could be holding the power maybe one for each hand slot.

Thoughts?

I say gauntlets. Something like what Shuri uses in Black Panther or heck, like Pride and Greed. Or an offhand, hand holding rune, that works much like skyrim or morrowind.

There are two possibilities; one is fistweapons, which is ok, second possibility would be to equip weaponskills up to golden quality with stats and enchantments in the empty weapon slots. I would love it though, something like eg. Shacklebreaker golden fists on mainbar and shacklebreaker throwing stars on second bar

Anywho...you’re describing spellcrafting. This was unveiled as a proposed mechanic in 2014 then never went anywhere. The story was that the Eyevea mages discover an alternate dimension where an ancient civilization has gone extinct. This civilization had Magics organized into the familiar schools from other games - destruction, alteration, etc.

The spellcrafting system was going to send you looking for secret doors into the other dimension, where you could discover building blocks for spells. You would build them, turn them into abilities for your bar, then level them like other skills in the game.

It was never released, and ZOS never said why. It’s possible it was hard to balance with the other abilities, or maybe they just wanted to focus on other expansions. Maybe some day.
