Range of Infernal Guardian Proc

Hi guys, so I've been reading up on monster sets, and the description for Infernal Guardian confuses me a little. It targets 'the further enemy from you' but what is the range on that? In PvP for instance there are situations where enemies are a very long way away, out of range of normal abilities, but still visible on screen. What would happen in those situations when Infernal Guardian procs? Thanks in advance for the help!
